摘要:
For a linear system with Markov jump parameters, the moment Liapunov exponents are computed explicitly in terms of averaged dynamics. Besides giving a necessary and sufficient condition for moment stability, the computation suggests that control design for these systems can be aimed at assigning desired closed-loop eigenvalues. This is shown to be equivalent to a decentralized control problem to which the homotopy method applies and the control gains are obtained by continuation from the solution of the decoupled (no jump) problem.

摘要:
The problem of direct adaptive control subject to a control rate constraint is considered. Theoretical results concerned with the system boundedness and control tracking properties are presented. These results require a finite gain stability condition of the associated non-adaptive control system. The results are applied to a stable plant.

摘要:
The linear Kalman-Bucy filter with both uncertain second-order statistical noise properties and uncertain system model parameters is considered. We investigate the conditions for robust stability based on the upper norm-bound of noise and parametrical uncertainties. Saddlepoint theory and the Gronwall lemma are employed to solve this problem.

摘要:
In a recent paper, a new method for the digital control of a continuous-time system based on a table look-up technique was presented. This digital controller is called a discrete-time quantized data (DTQD) controller. In order to minimize the number of table entries, a grid embedding process is proposed. This control technique proved successful when applied to the regulator problem. However, when a DTQD controller using the grid embedding process is applied to a continuous-time system with additive disturbances, the performance of the DTQD controller degraded, causing oscillations and possible limit cycle phenomena. In this paper, the grid embedding process is replaced with a continuous scaling process. The continuous scaling process retains the advantages of the grid embedding process in reducing the number of table entries. In addition, it reduces the amount of oscillation in the system response when disturbances are present.

摘要:
A simple way of eliminating limit cycles is presented for multivariable non-linear systems of the form ẋ = Ax + Fw(x, ẋ) + Bu,y = Cxby using a disturbance accommodating control method (DAC). Simulations show that it is easy and effective in practical applications. Using {sin ωt, cos ωt} (ω is the self-oscillating frequency) as basis functions to build a non-linear disturbance state model to estimatew(t) constitutes a limiting case of the spline approximation process. The observer can be designed with relatively fast dynamics so that the approximation error can be decreased to a very small value; hence the total elimination result is good. The paper also discusses how asymmetric self-oscillation can be eliminated and how to deal with servo-tracking systems when limit cycles occur.

摘要:
An optimal boundary control problem for a distributed-parameter system with a boundary condition involving a time-varying lag is solved. The time horizon is fixed. Making use of the Lions scheme, necessary and sufficient conditions of optimality for the Neumann problem with the quadratic performance functional and constrained control are derived.

摘要:
The problem of determining the surface temperature of a thin rod and thin rectangular plate from temperature readings at interior points is investigated. It is shown that this problem can be solved by an infinite differentiation operator acting on the known temperature readings. Examples are also obtained which show that the surface temperature cannot be determined by a discrete set of temperature readings; this is in contrast to the recent discrete observability results obtained for the determination of initial temperature.

摘要:
New sufficient conditions for the stability of interval matrices are presented, based on the Lyapunov stability approach as well as on the frequency-domain approach. The conditions help to overcome the conservatism of the existing criteria for the stability of interval matrices based on a matrix approach. Several numerical examples are given to demonstrate the new conditions and to compare them with results previously reported.

摘要:
Two new identification procedures based on different strategies are presented to determine a mathematical model for the crude iron quality of a blast furnace process. The first algorithm estimates the parameters of a common linear difference equation model based on identification results obtained from separate series of data with given model structure. Prior to complete estimation of the parameters, the second method automatically detects the significant terms of a general model to optimally characterize a linear or non-linear system. The process is described by a general discrete polynomial expansion of past and present input signals and past output signals. This algorithm is based on orthogonalization and application of several information criteria. A comparison of the prediction accuracy of the linear model obtained from the first method with the linear and non-linear model resulting from the second algorithm and with models developed by other identification procedures is presented and some experiences from this application are discussed.

摘要:
The stabilization of a linear, multivariable discrete-time system via Kleinman's (1974) control law is considered. It is basically shown that this control law with iteration numbersN ≥ v(vbeing the controllability index of the system) asymptotically stabilizes the system considered.
