摘要:
This paper presents a solution to the linear discrete quadratic optimal control problem for a single input single output plant with a control weighting that tends to zero. Explicit expressions are derived for the optimal gain vector in terms of the first significant powers of the control weighting, and the limiting values of these expressions are considered. The optimal index of performance is obtained both for the minimum and non-minimum phase plants. The clear distinction between these two types of plants is discussed and the non-vanishing value of the index of performance in the latter case is expressed in terms of the zero directions of the system. Extensions to the single input multi output case and the case where the index of performance is a function of dynamic operators are introduced.

摘要:
In recent years, many different adaptive schemes have been developed. In addition to the development of specific algorithms, much work has also been done in developing a general complex algorithm for which other algorithms developed by specific approaches are special cases. This paper discusses one such algorithm and shows how it can be further generalized.

摘要:
Feedback control of uncertain dynamical systems is considered. Adopting a deterministic approach based on the theory of variable structure systems, a feedback regulator is developed which guarantees global asymptotic stability or global ultimate boundedness under certain hypotheses on the bounded system uncertainties and disturbances.

摘要:
The three-level incentive strategy in a non-linear differential game ia defined. The separability in obtaining incentive strategies is shown. The sufficient condition for a three-level incentive strategy in a linear quadratic differential game is derived. It is shown that a gradient method is applicable for finding a three-level incentive strategy in a linear quadratic differential game.

摘要:
The paper deals with time-optimal control of a complex of independent operations having concave models, when the maximum level of total usage of renewable continuously divisible resource is time-variable and piece-wise constant. In the case considered, neither the moments of a step change of the maximum level of resource, nor their amounts in the consecutive time intervals determined by those moments, are known before starting the control, but they become known in the course of control. An algorithm for the solution of this problem (local optimization of a complex of operations) is proposed. For control determined by this algorithm the performance time of a complex of operations is, in general, greater than the minimum performance time of a complex of operations determined for the same problem, assuming that the maximum level of total usage of resource is at every moment known apriori(global optimization of a complex of operations). The concept of a set of reachable states, and convex analysis, are used to formulate a necessary and sufficient condition that local optimization of a complex of operations ensures a global optimization of this complex. Then, using the theory of function equations a full class of models of operations, for which this condition is satisfied, is determined. These are power models with identical exponents. Some properties of the globally optima! control are given.

摘要:
This paper describes a now method of measuring the transfer function of a system. It is shown how a phase variable representation of the system can lie used to calculate the system parameters from the input and output signals. The use of phase variables to describe a control system is simple, and hence much work has boon done with this particular co-ordinate system. The phase variables used in this paper consist of the system output and thenderivatives of the output and derivatives of the input. Phase variables are, in general, not real physical variables and therefore are not available for measurement. However, gaussian pulses possess derivatives and in this case the variables are measurable using the gaussian pulse signals. The method can be easily applied to systems with white observation noise by using the cross-correlation functions of the gaussian signals and output response. In addition,M-sequence gaussian signals are proposed and applying them to system parameter measurement is considered, using a phase variable approach, The results demonstrate that it is possible to obtain a good measurement, of the system parameters using simple procedures.

摘要:
In this paper it is shown that when a linear system has several inputs and outputs, certain transfer functions may be interdependent. An easily applied sufficient condition is stated : hi particular, it shows which transfer functions are thus interdependent. A consequence important in the study of the identifiability of linear models is derived.

Some basic results of robust controller theory are generalized to distributed parameter systems with unbounded control and perturbation operators. The theory presented is then applied to the construction of a flow adaptive robust controller for heat exchangers.

摘要:
The notion of an exact zero of a sot of polynomialspof R[s] is extended to that of an almost zero. The almost zeros are defined as minima of a norm function ofpand their invariance undera.certain equivalence relation&, defined onp,is established, The region of the complex plane which contains the prime almost zero (global minimum) is defined, and necessary and sufficient conditions characterizing the set of almost zeros are given. The role of almost zeros ofpin the zero assignment problem of the combinants ofpis investigated. Under the assumption of non-assignability forp, it is shown that the almost zeros act as nearly fixed zeros of the combinants. Every almost zerozis the centre of a discD(z, R)which contains at least one zero of all combinants ofp.The size of the radiusRof this disc provides a measure of the ability of the almost zero to attract the zeros of the combinants ofpA number of results for estimating upper bounds for the radiusR, associated with subfamilies of the general family of combinants ofp, are given. Finally, a sufficient condition for estimating an upper bound for the discD(z, R)which contains at least one zero of all combinants ofPis derived. The paper provides a more meaningful definition, from the numerical point of view, for the non-generic notion of a zero of a set of polynomials ; it also shows how some of the properties of a zero extend naturally to the almost zero case.
