摘要:
This paper presents the derivation and evaluation of an asymptotically unbiased statistical estimator for the parameters in the vector difference equation canonical description of a linear multi variable system disturbed by correlated plant and measurement noise processes having rational spectral densities. The sequential estimation algorithm utilizes instrumental variables generated by a recursive filter incorporating the current parameter estimate in a novel manner. A spectral factorization technique for the identification of the noise process is discussed. Numerical results comparing the estimation algorithm with other methods are reported for scalar-output and multivariable-output cases.

This paper continues the treatment of the problem of the optimal regulator for linear plants with bounded control variable and quadratic performance index. The optimal controls for this index are singular in a sub-set containing the origin and bang-bang elsewhere. The treatment is extended to the ease where the dimension of the singular sub-space is less than n—l for annth order plant; the bang-bang mode then has an infinite number of switches. The method of optimalr-switch controls, developed previously for integral-square-error type criteria, is extended to deal with this index. The techniques described here are applicable to any performance index which contains only the state variables.

摘要:
This paper is concerned with basic techniques that are suitable for computational cryptography. The difficulties involved in constructing suitable crypto-programmes as well as the criteria for the choice of crypto-programmes are discussed. The relevant mathematical properties of transformations are worked out. On this basis, suitable transformation techniques such as arithmetical, logic, matrix, topological, functional and hierarchical schemes are described. Finally, a brief discussion is given on the system design for crypto -programming.

摘要:
In a previous work, we have proposed a way, founded on the ‘reactive energy minimization principle’, for improving the accuracy of Kochenburger's method in the study of non-linear systems. We prove, here, the convergence of this algorithm. In order to do so, we prove firstly, with the help of Tsypkin's theory that the algorithm is exact for on-off closed-loop systems. From this result and by using some theorems on functional continuity which have been established elsewhere, we prove that the proposition is still true, for a greater set of systems.

This paper is concerned with the discrete time matrix Riccati equation. The properties established are those of minimality, convergence, uniqueness and stability. Further the convergence of the policy space approximation technique is proved. These results are analogous to those known for the continuous-time Riccati equation, but the techniques used are simpler.

摘要:
This paper considers the problem of the optimal control of a linear servomechanism using output feedback. It is shown that a generalization of the standard optimal control problem can be obtained in such a manner that optimal control is possible by feeding system outputs into a dynamic controller which operates only on past and present values of these outputs. This represents a new approach to the design of controllers for linear systems which may play an important role in applications of optimal control theory. It allows the linear servomechanism problem to be treated, for the first time, in a realistic manner.

In the field of automatic control, systems with stochastic inputs are frequently encountered. The purpose of this paper is twofold: (I) to treat the problem of mathematically modelling a general class of stochastic systems, and (2) to simulate the optimal control for a special case of this class of stochastic systems, specifically a linear time-invariant system with stochastic inputs and stochastically perturbed observations. The general class of systems considered in the modelling includes systems having non-linear and time-varying state dependence and additive white noise which is added in a non-linear and time-varying manner.

The dynamics of a gas-solid fluidized bed are described. A model of a shallow bed suggested in previous work is critically examined and shown to have serious limitations in the light of experimental evidence. A lumped parameter model is derived in the paper and theoretical results derived from this model are shown to compare favourably with experimental results, particularly with regard to natural frequency of oscillation. Formation of bubbles in the bed are also examined and it is confirmed that bubble formation is cyclic and is related to the natural frequency of the bed. The experimental procedures based on cross-correlation using a pseudo-random binary sequence and direct measurement of bubbles using a capacity probe are described.
