摘要:
A computer-oriented algebraic method for the design of duplicator class control systems is established. To involves four steps: (1) Equation fitting, (2) parameter assuming, (3) system simplifying and (4) quotient matching. The power and simplicity of the method are demonstrated by several examples.

摘要:
This paper presents a method for dealing with parameter uncertainty in system design which is based on the study of the statistical properties of an ensemble of systems defined by a given structure and by aprioriparameter distributions rather than point parameter estimates. It is assumed that the model of the actual system is a random member of the ensemble. The object of the analysis is to design or modify the properties of the ensemble to ensure a high probability of adequate performance of the actual system. The primary statistical function employed is the sample distribution function. This function is used to estimate the true population distribution of a scalar variable chosen to measure the system property of interest. The sample distribution function is constructed from random samples of this figure of merit generated by a suitable digital computer programme. The accuracy of the estimation of the population distribution by the sample distribution is determined by application of statistical results of Kolmogorov and Rényi.

摘要:
A systematic method for the digital computer manipulation of the equations describing high-order linear processes into canonic state space form is briefly reviewed. The basic method is then extended to embrace system models which, it transpires, include input derivative terms. The paper concludes with a numerical example relating to a boiler dynamic model described by a set of 23 differential and algebraic equations. This example, in addition to illustrating the method of equation manipulation proposed brings out, quite simply, certain features of the boiler model in question which have not been discussed in previous papers.

摘要:
A technique is suggested for designing an interacting multi-variable system which minimizes the m.s.e. and sensitivity simultaneously, when perturbations in system parameters are considered to be random in nature. Design procedure for non-interacting multivariable systems is suggested which gives a system with minimum m.s.e. and sensitivity, and also ensures that the final system will have the desired stability margin. A sufficient condition is derived, when a closed-loop system will exhibit better performance than an equivalent open-loop structure.

摘要:
A detailed investigation is made into the effect of inherent transportation lag on the nature of limit cycles sustained in a second-order sampled-data system containing a relay type non-linearity. The effectiveness of the either signals of sinusoidal, triangular and square wave shape to suppress limit cycles is studied in detail and the advantages and disadvantages of each wave shape are discussed. The method of analysis is via the state transition technique and it is advantageously used to evaluate the response of the system until a final steady-state value is attained by the controlled variable.

The reachable states of distributed parameter systems where the magnitude of the control energy is constrained are found. The systems considered are described by linear partial differential equations on a bounded domain. The controls may be either distributed or at the boundary and are required to satisfy a constraint in the magnitude of their norm. The results are then used to find conditions for null controllability.

摘要:
In this paper, we give first a contribution to the ‘dual input describing function’ of Westet al.(1956); we show how it is possible to define by means of the characteristic curve of the non-linearity alone, without knowing the mathematical expression for it. Secondly, we give a new method for determining the self-oscillation of a non-linear system dependent on reactive energy considerations. Lastly, we extend the theory to non-linear multivariable systems.
