Converse theorems for Liapunov stability of non-linear difference equations are presented, which improve upon past results in this area. The main improvement consists in not assuming that solutions can be extended backward in time. When such assumptions are made, however, it is shown that necessary conditions for finite-time stability of non-linear difference equations can be readily derived.

摘要:
The optimal regulation of a linear discrete system in which one wishes to use either the minimum amount of fuel, energy or amplitude in the control has received much attention. It is readily shown that each of these control problems can be equated to that of finding a specific solution to a system of consistent linear equations in the control variables. Various algorithms have been developed which will yield an optimal control ; however, they tend to be computationally inefficient (for the minimum fuel and amplitude problems) and are therefore of little practical value.

摘要:
An asynchronized synchronous machine has two field windings and two special excitation control systems. The paper examines the performance of this type of machine during both synchronous and asynchronous operating conditions. The results illustrate the effects of subsidiary feedback signals in the control loops on equilibrium conditions and stability. They are supported by analysis, which establishes the conditions for stability and shows how these depend on the additional control signals.

A new method is presented for the measurement of the Wiener kernels of a non-linear system. The method uses the complex exponential functions as a set of orthogonal functions with which to expand the kernels. The fast Fourier transform is then employed in the most efficient measurement of the kernels so far discovered.

The classical Smith Predictor method for single variable systems is extended to a class of linear multivariable systems. Derivations of the multivariable Smith Predictor are presented for both continuous-time and discrete-time systems which contain time delays in the control variables and/or output variables. As in the classical method, use of the multivariable Smith Predictor eliminates the time delays from the characteristic equation of the closed-loop system
