摘要:
Conceived in the forties, slot array antennas have reached a state of maturity. However, there are still many problems addressed in the current literature. This paper presents an overview of the significant publications on waveguide-fed slot antennas and arrays.

摘要:
Increasing demands for high-gain and high-efficiency planar antennas in higher frequencies are surveyed. Firstly, waveguide structures suitable for planar arrays are compared. Several types of single-layer slotted waveguide arrays are proposed and their high potentials in terms of efficiency and mass produceability are demonstrated in 10 to 20 GHz band such as DBS reception. The applicability to millimeter wave frequencies up to 60GHz band is demonstrated.

摘要:
One of the most important features of the Canadian Radarsat synthetic aperture radar satellite is the 15m.*1.5m. deployable, phase-scanned antenna. This paper will describe the design features of that antenna, with particular emphasis on the special techniques that have been developed to analyze and synthesize large slotted waveguide planar arrays.

摘要:
The European Remote Sensing Satellites, ERS-1 and ERS-2 were launched in 1991 and 1995. ERS-2 is operating and ERS-1 is presently used as backup. The satellites carry an Active Microwave Instrument which comprises a radar scatterometer measuring the wind speed and direction over the oceans and a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) for land mapping. These radars work at C-band, 5.3 GHz. Saab Ericsson Space was responsible for the electrical design and RF tests of the slotted waveguide antenna farm.

摘要:
Computational models, based on the moment method, are described for non-rectangular slots in both the broad and side walls, respectively, of E-plane and H-plane bifurcated waveguides. These slots permit the realisation of polarisation agility in slotted-waveguide array antennas. The slots, which are generally T-shaped, display a three dimensional form and this introduces an additional level of complexity into the formulation of a moment method solution for the electromagnetic boundary value problem represented by the slot. The steps introduced to accommodate this problem are described. Computational results for some of the slot geometries examined are presented and these are shown to be in broad agreement with measured values.

摘要:
The problem of scattering from a large planar slotted waveguide array antenna is investigated. The structural scattering and slot scattering are solved independently through the application of the equivalence principle. The former is calculated by a high-frequency method, such as the physical optics (PO) and the shooting and bouncing ray (SBR) method combined with edge diffraction. The latter is solved using the method of moments (MoM) in conjunction with global sinusoidal basis functions and Galerkin's testing technique. Special attention is paid to the evaluation of the admittance matrix elements, which involve the internal and external mutual coupling. Numerical results are presented to demonstrate the effects of a variety of factors on the radar cross section (RCS) of a slot array, and these include the number of basis functions in the MoM solution, the external mutual coupling between the slots, the waveguide terminations, and the host object. Also given are the RCS space distribution and the time responses of slot arrays to illustrate their unique scattering characteristics. The RCS of a complicated real slot array is given finally to demonstrate the capability of the numerical method as well as the distinct features of its RCS pattern.
