摘要:
Tadikamalla and Johnson (1990) have provided tables to facilitate fitting LBdistributions, using the first four moments. In this paper, tables are presented to assist in fitting LBdistributions using the first two moments and the terminals of the range of variation (supposed known)

摘要:
This paper considers the estimation of mixing proportions when, in addition to the mixture sample, there are available autoregressively dependent data of known origin from each of the classes which make up the mixture population. An asymptotic variance of the usual discriminant analysis (or confusion matrix) estimator of the mixing proportion is obtained under this condition of correlated training data. The maximum likelihood estimator of the mixing proportion and the associated asymptotic variance are also obtained. A simulation experiment is used to investigate the behaviour of these estimators

摘要:
Many widely-used statistical packages and recent authors addressing process capability apply Cpmin cases where tolerances are asymmetric. This can misrepresent process capability, andpoints to the need to apply appropriate capability measures in the asymmetric case. We compare andcontrast six relatively unfamiliar capability indices appropriate for asymmetric tolerances to givethem greater visibility and to help potential users choose among them. For some of these indicesmethods of estimation from process data have not been published; work on this is deferred to subsequent papers

摘要:
High volume production processes and many processes using automated sampling technology yield process data which are autocorrelated. One technique proposed for monitoring autocorrelated data involves the application of the Individuals control chart to forecast residuals from an appropriate time series model of the process. This study examines the following issues concerning forecast-based monitoring schemes: (i) the affect of forecast recovery from step changes on the average run length (ARL) of control charts applied to forecast residuals (ii) the proposal of the cumulative distribution function (CDF) of the run lengths as an appropriate criterion for chart comparisons and (iii) the relative performance of the Individuals control chart, the Cumulative Sum (CUSUM) control chart and the Exponentially Weighted Moving Average control chart applied to forecast residuals using both the ARL and CDF criteria

摘要:
Three forms of a general null hypothesis Ho on the factorial parameters of a general asymmetrical factorial paired comparison experiment are considered. A class of partially balanced designscorresponding to each form of H0is constructed and the A,D and ioptimal design, minimizing the trace, determinant and largest eigenvalue of a defined covariance matrix of related maximumlikelihoodestimators, in that class is determined. Moreover, the optimal design in each class maximizes the noncentrality parameter λ2of the asymptotic noncentral chi-square distribution of the likelihood ratiostatistic -2 log λ for testing Hounder defined local alternatives. These results apply directly to symmetrical factorial paired comparison experiments as special casesExamples are given forillustrating applications of the developed results

摘要:
The test statistic of Hoeffding-Blum-Kiefer-Rosenblatt for testing the hypothesis of independenceis modified so as to get a procedure which is invariant with respect to strictly monotone transformations of the components. It is shown by simulation that the limiting null distribution providesanapproximation which is more accurate

摘要:
The Type I error rate and statistical power of six selected pairwise multiple comparison procedures were estimated by using simulated data in which population variances were heterogeneous. Based on a oneway Anova model, eleven different combinations of sample sizes and variance patterns were examined for a four-group design and another eleven patterns were examined for a six-group design. The results indicated that only the Games and Howell procedure occasionally failed to control the familywise Type I error rate under the nominal .05 level. In terms of statistical power, Shaffer (1979, 1986) enhancements to the Bonferroni approach provided the greatest average power per contrast and all pair power in the four group design. In the six-group design, no procedure consistently provided the greatest per-pair power or all pair power

摘要:
Tests of linearity in regression functions are frequently applied in practice. If a researcher hasapriori information about the shape of the regression function, then incorporating this information into the test typically increases the power at alternatives that satisfy the hypothesized shape restriction. We study likelihood ratio tests of linearity with the alternative constrained to be concave (or convex) as well as tests of concavity as the null hypothesis. To complete the development of the test statistics and their null distributions, we only need to study the level probabilities. A numerical example and a discussion of the use of modifications of these tests as alternatives to the likelihood ratio test for homogeneity versus a unimodal (umbrella) ordering are included

摘要:
The problem of estimating many normal means is approached by means of an hierarchical model. The hierarchical model is the standard conjugate model with one exception: the normal distribution at the middle stage is replaced by a Dirichlet process with a normal shape. Estimation for this model is accomplished through the implementation of the Gibbs sampler (see Escobar and West,1991)Thisarticle describes a new Gibbs sampler algorithm that is implemented on a collapsed state space Results that apply to a general setting are obtained, suggesting that a collapse of the state space willimprove the rate of convergence of the Gibbs sampler. An example shows that the proposed collapse of the state space may result in a dramatically improved algorithm
