SUMMARYSera from patients with molluscum contagiosum showed a higher incidence of anticellular and fibrillar anticellular antibodies of IgM class as compared to sera from control subjects. Most patients with anticellular IgM antibodies also had molluscum contagiosum virus‐specific antibodies. In a comparative study, there was a higher incidence of anticellular IgM antibodies to normal human epidermis and fibrillar anticellular IgM antibodies in molluscum contagiosum than in warts or psoriasis. SUMMARYStromal or intratumour deposits of amyloid were found in thirty of forty‐six randomly selected basal cell carcinomas. Amyloid was found less often in histologically aggressive tumours than in other sub‐types. Immunoglobulins, predominantly IgM, were demonstrated in all but one of these thirty cases, corresponding to the distribution of the amyloid deposits. SUMMARYIncreased acid hydrolase activity has been demonstrated in suction blister fluid 1.5 h after the application of established lysosomal labilizing agents. Both the pattern of enzyme activity and the magnitude of the increases were similar to those following cutaneous inflammation.These data confirm our previous observations that acid hydrolases do indeed play a role in cutaneous inflammation, but their release is not the initial event in this process.

SUMMARYResults obtained from an animal test system for epidermal cytotoxic drugs prompted the topical use of 1% cycloheximide in the treatment of histologically confirmed superficial basal cell carcinomata of the skin. Excellent clinical clearing of lesions has been demonstrated and this has been confirmed by post treatment biopsies. Preliminary findings in solar keratoses and intraepidermal carcinomata of the skin are also reported.

SUMMARYThree groups of glaucoma patients, treated topically with various beta‐blocking agents, were studied for mucocutaneous side‐effects of long‐term therapy.In five of eleven patients with ocular and/or periocular dermatitis as an adverse reaction to longterm treatment with metoprolol eye drops a dermatitis, reproducible by patch tests with pure metoprolol 3%, was demonstrable.
