摘要:
This paper outlines an approach to the monitoring of electrical drives by the method of axial flux sensing. It is shown that it is possible to detect a variety of faults using a single noninvasive sensor. A prototype system design incorporating several novel features is also discussed, and experimental results presented.

摘要:
The paper describes the characteristics of diesel generation plant and discusses the role of diesel generation in the context of bulk supply of electricity. The specific operational and maintenance aspects of diesel generation are presented and the need for the development of aids to routine maintenance are discussed. One technique for monitoring the performance of diesel plant is described and results are given from tests carried out in Stornoway power station on the island of Lewis.

摘要:
The paper reports on a study carried out to detect airgap eccentricity in large 3-phase induction motors. The philosophy of using a unified online monitoring strategy is presented and the reasons for selecting line current and frame vibration as the monitored parameters are discussed. A theoretical analysis is presented which predicts the presence of unique signature patterns in the current and vibration spectra which are only characteristic of eccentricity. The theoretical predictions are verified by experimental results from a special fault producing test rig and on-site tests in a power station.

摘要:
Current practices in the monitoring of large steam turbine generators are briefly discussed, consideration being given to the traditional range of turbine supervisory equipment, and the more extended facilities which are sometimes now associated with rotating machinery, such as vibration monitoring, together with the more generalised data logging systems now specified by some Utilities. Consideration is given to the possible range of parameters and equipment areas which may now be incorporated into a monitoring scheme, and attention is drawn to the advances in display technology and operator interfaces which are now possible at moderate cost. In a concluding section, a range of monitoring functions which could be of wide general application in the field of steam turbine generators is discussed.

摘要:
The paper describes how techniques for monitoring the condition of generators and large motors have been used and developed in one region of the UK Central Electricity Generating Board. Many parameters need to be monitored on a generator, so that a comprehensive and clear picture of any degradation can be built up for use in planning shutdowns and maintenance. Only a few parameters are needed for motors. The criteria are given of experiences with selected monitoring techniques.

摘要:
The paper presents a review of four techniques which are used for detecting, and in some instances locating, short-circuited turns in the rotors of large turbogenerators. The information is supplemented by experience with some of the techniques gained in a manufacturing establishment. The four techniques described are airgap search coil, recurrent surge oscillograph (RSO), circulating stator current, and rotor shaft current.

摘要:
The paper describes the development of a core imperfection monitoring and detection system which eliminates the need for a high-voltage high-current excitation winding. The system is based on an electromagnetic testing technique. The paper reports a number of tests conducted in the United Kingdom and USA and gives comparisons of results made with the conventional ring flux test method and the new method. Accuracy of fault location and ease of implementation are discussed.
