摘要:
The general purpose circuit simulation package SPICE is used as a design tool for power electronic circuits. The process involves simulation of the complete circuit in the microsecond timescale, by which circuit behaviour under different operating conditions can be studied. Semiconductor device models and interconnection inductances are examined. The simulation process is applied to a 50 kVA transistorised chopper circuit and the results are discussed and compared with experimental results.

摘要:
A method is described for the calculation of the armature circuit inductance of DC machines by the finite element method (FEM), in which both the flux linkage and the stored energy methods are presented. The inductances calculated by this method are compared with the measured values and those calculated by conventional formulas. The measured inductances decrease rapidly with increase of field current, because of the saturation phenomena of the magnetic circuit. The results obtained by FEM are in good agreement with the measured values. Further, in the conventional formulas, an average gap length is used to calculate the inductance due to the main airgap. In the paper, an improved formula is derived, in which the airgap change in the circumferential direction is taken into account.

摘要:
Maxwell's problem of winding the greatest possible inductance with a given length of wire is examined for single-layer toroids. Optimum designs are obtained when the turns are square or circular or the Shafranov D-shape. In each case the optimum number of turns is proportional to the square root of the wire length, and the best obtainable inductance increases approximately as the three-halves power of the wire length. A simple graphical procedure achieves the most economical design for a required inductance and current rating.

摘要:
A synchronous motor having a bar stator winding fed from an integral phase-splitting transformer is described. The rotor magnet system is constructed from sintered samarium cobalt and reinforced with nonmagnetic stainless steel. The 1 cm-diameter rotor is capable of speeds up to 150 000 rev/min with an output of approximately 100 W. Electrical and mechanical aspects of the design are discussed and test results at supply frequencies up to 2.5 kHz are given

摘要:
A high-voltage compact capacitor bank charger is required in sonar applications. A resonant high-frequency link is employed which provides fast response to an external command, high efficiency for the convertor and isolation between the input and the output of the convertor. The convertor circuit is analysed and the design procedure is given. Experimental results obtained from a 1200 J charger are discussed.

摘要:
Despite the fact that electrical power is a widespread and highly flexible product, perfection cannot always be guaranteed owing to disturbances caused either by random phenomena affecting the network (lightning, network equipment faults etc.) or by the operation of certain types of equipment (are furnaces, rolling mills, electronic power equipment etc.). After a brief summary of the origins and nature of the various disturbances to which electrical networks are prone, be they public or industrial, we will deal in more detail with the problem of voltage dips and short time interruptions, these being the most problematical disturbances for the industrial customer. The principal technical solutions for correct operation of industrial installations will be described. In particular, the possibility of private generation operating in parallel with the public network will be dealt with. The need for collaboration between the user (or engineering firm representing him) and manufacturer (or installer) of electrical equipment and the electrical power distributor is stressed.
