摘要:
The pole-assignment problem of hyperbolic distributed parameter systems with boundary or pointwise inputs is studied. The problem is solved under a weaker restriction on the separation of the open-loop poles and the closed-loop ones. A characteristic equation is first given whose roots are the poles of the closed-loop system. Next it is shown that the infinite number of open-loop poles can be uniformly moved by means of a suitable linear feedback.

摘要:
A very large-scale integration (VLSI) coordinate rotation digital computer (CORDIC) based algorithm and pipelined architecture for solving state-space equations are described. The differential equations can be reduced into a set of linear system equations by an orthogonal polynomial expanded approach. With the advent of VLSI techniques, these linear equations can be implemented in a VLSI chip using a systolic processor array with 0(N2/2) processors. The total computation time is O(4N) time units, which is faster than other conventional methods. From a viewpoint of numerical stability, this algorithm based on circular rotation is superior to the conventional hyperbolic-rotation-based method.

General orthogonal polynomials are employed to perform the analysis, parameter identification and optimal control of linear time-varying systems. Applying the derived operational matrix of integration and operational matrix of time multiplication, the differential equation is simplified to a set of algebraic equations which is more suitable for digital computation. Illustrative examples are included for demonstration.

摘要:
Two closed-loop hierarchical control strategies are examined for the control of a two-area hydro-thermal power system model. The control is obtained using the interaction prediction approach and structural perturbation method. The first approach has been developed to provide optimal feedback control using an off-line decentralized calculation procedure. The second method is based on obtaining local feedback controllers for each subsystem on the first level by ignoring the interactions, then a global controller at the second level provides corrective signals to neutralize the interaction effects. In addition, the dynamic behaviour of the power system under the effect of non-linearities is also investigated. Finally, a two-area hydro-thermal power system is used to illustrate the approaches.

摘要:
A non-derivative algorithm for determining and maintaining the optimum steady-stale operating point of an industrial process is proposed. The method employs the curve fitting technique to construct an approximate linear model which can match the output at each iteration and match the required derivatives of reality at the optimum point. In order to update the process control vectors and ensure that the objective descends, a Newton step technique and an augmented term are then used. The algorithm's convergence and optimality conditions are investigated under mild assumptions. Simulation results show that the new algorithm requires less set-point changes, and exhibits a higher convergent rate than a previous non-derivative method.

A bayesian model for one-step ahead forecasts is derived by allowing the forecasters to be biased and correlated. It is shown that this general bayesian forecast combination model is equivalent to the Kalman filter, and this correspondence is used to give a k-step ahead forecast combination model.

摘要:
A multiple model self-tuning predictor is presented which does not require the assumption or knowing the parameter vectors in the finite set. The parameters of the submodes are recursively estimated in real-time with a parallel model identification method. The simulation example shows the satisfactory performance of the proposed algorithm. The algorithm is applied to power demand forecasting and gives the significant improved results in comparison with a self-tuning predictor, although the Markov dynamic model assumption is not exactly satisfied.

The concept of pseudo-harmonic systems is introduced under the model of general systems given by Lin (1987). The concept can be thought as an abstract of some problems in optimization theory and is a generalization of harmonic systems introduced by Ma and Lin (1987 a). Some elementary properties of pseudo-harmonic systems and three basic principles are given, a few questions are posed, and a few tests of applications of the results are discussed.

摘要:
Component-by-component state smoothing is discussed for multi-dimensional dynamic systems with non-linear random interference such as jamming. Each component of the observation model is a non-linear function of only one state component, arbitrary random interference, and observation noise. Each state component is first approximated by a finite state machine and then, using the Viterbi decoding algorithm of information theory, the state components are sequentially smoothed in parallel. This results in a memory reduction for the implementation of the state smoothing. Simulation results have shown that the proposed scheme performs well, whereas the classical estimation schemes cannot be used, in general, to estimate the states of dynamic models with arbitrary random interference.
