摘要:
A non-stationary multisector growth model with uncertainty, in which future utilities are discounted, is examined. First we establish the existence of strongly optimal programs emanating from a given initial capital stock. Then we show that this optimal program x is sustained by a system of prices [pcirc] so that the pair [◯ [pcirc]] is competitive and a strong transversality condition holds. We also show that competitiveness and transversality imply optimality.

摘要:
An alternative and efficient optimization procedure for discontinuous optimization in batch production systems is presented. This method, namely, the direct pattern search method (DPSM) is an alternative approach to that suggested by Imo and Leech (1984), the sequential unconstrained minimization technique (SUMT) to minimize the processing time per unit of a finished product in a class of multi-stage production systems. Moreover, the scope for the extension of the Imo and Leech (1984) model is explained with reference to the application to just-in-time (JIT) manufacturing systems and flexible manufacturing systems (FMS). Furthermore, the model can be enriched with an objective to model more realistic production systems incorporating the cost due to queueing of batches, and batch splitting and forming using the concept of equivalent transformation. The main purpose is to motivate the extension of the model in order to enhance the scope and application of the model for modern production systems and the use of the DPSM for discontinuous batch size optimization. An example is solved and the results obtained prove that the DPSM is superior with respect to the minimum processing time per unit and the computational effort required for discontinuous optimization.

摘要:
Sometimes an image can be characterized with the help of a dynamic system in terms of a first-order differential equation, e.g. when a scanner output contains additive noise and/or is degraded due to interaction between the sensing elements (the cameras) or by other phenomena. In this paper, an algorithm for image estimation from the noisy output of a scanner is hypothesized. Determination of the parametersA, B, and theCmatrices of a dynamic system leads to the design of an estimator whose input is the output of a scanner with uniform speed. A portion of the overall algorithm using neural networks trained by a gradient descent learning algorithm is discussed in detail. In particular, the determination ofA. B, Cfrom states, time derivatives of states and inputs are highlighted. The details of implementation are included. The salient points regarding the development of the complete algorithm are discussed. It is hoped that the results achieved so far will give rise to new techniques for the application of neural networks to image enhancement in particular and to image processing in general.

摘要:
A synthesis of hierarchical optimization methods for large-scale systems formed by interconnected units is presented using the tracking approach. A general decomposition-coordination structure combining various coordination strategies is proposed. The resulting algorithm, which is very efficient, convivial, and applicable to a large class of problems, is illustrated by a numerical example.

摘要:
An efficient integer programming model of the dynamic lot-sizing problem is presented. The Hillier-Lieberman model is improved by a new model that has only half the number of functional constraints. The reduction on the functional constraints, together with the imposition of a properly proposed by Wagner and Whitin, significantly simplifies the model, and thus greatly improves the computation efficiency. For the 20-period problems, the new model requires only 1/369 the computation time of the Hillier-Lieberman model.
