摘要:
A class of buffer systems with heterogeneous input, and output processes is presented and the particular ease of Poisson bursts input-batch output is analysed, Relations between buffer size and overflow probability are derived and graphical results are given as design guides for a range of parameters. The optimum selection of parameters is discussed in the environment of an on—line system, and a specific application of an one source—two computers system is described.

A computationally simple algorithm for the evaluation of constituent mutrices of a given matrixAwith distinct and/or multiple eigenvalues is presented. The method, although based on the use of resolving polynomials does not require matrix inversion, nor does it require inverse Laplace transform techniques.

摘要:
This paper discusses the use of spatial filtering in processing two-dimensional image data. A one-dimensional state variable filter is extended to two dimensions using a separability assumption and is applied to perform image enhancement of digital photographs. Results are given.

摘要:
Science advances, on the one hand, by developing—in depth and in breadth—the traditional disciplines, and, on the other, by creating entirely new ones. The emergence of new scientific disciplines is governed, essentially by two major factors : (1) a tendency toward specialization, and (2) a tendency toward the generalization of science. Systems science and engineering was produced by the latter tendency. An objective of this paper has been to identify the topical areas of systems science and engineering curricula and thus provide an extensional definition of its main components of concentration.

摘要:
This paper is concerned with the analysis of the absolute stability of a non-linear autonomous system which consists of a single non-linearity belonging to a particular class, in an otherwise linear feedback loop. It is motivated from the earlier Popovlike frequency-domain criteria using the ‘ multiplier ’ eoncept and involves the construction of ‘ stability multipliers’ with prescribed phase characteristics. A few computer-based methods by which this problem can be solved are indicated and it is shown that this constitutes a stop-by-step procedure for testing the stability properties of a given system.

摘要:
In this paper the problem of existence of optimal controls for a class of time lag systems is considered. It is shown that Oġuztöreli's results (Oġuztöreli, th 8.1, pp. 184) can be extended to a class of time lag systems whoso ‘phase velocity’ depends also on the past history of control.

In this paper the problem of optimal selection of the pair {u, 𝛗} for a class of non-linear systems with finite heredity in both the states and the control is considered. With the initial data {u(t),𝛗(t;)/t𝛆[α,t0)] directly penalized in the cost functional, a Pontryagintype Maximum Principle is derived. An example illustrates the results.
