摘要:
The problem of estimating the state of linear distributed parameter systems from boundary measurements is considered. The measurement noise is assumed to be coloured. The optimum filter equations are derived by the applications of innovation theory. Tt represents the boundary version of the distributed Kalman—Bucy filter with coloured measurement noise.

This paper presents a computer simulation of a look-ahead paging algorithm that; is based on computer produced weighted values assigned at compilation time. The look-ahead paging algorithm employed in this paper calculates those pages with the highest values as the most probable for future utilization and selectively chooses among them those which will comprise the new current working set.

摘要:
The implementation of many real-time automated routing procedures is dependent on a method of rapidly obtaining optimum routes in a very short amount of time for networks having large numbers of vortices. A method for the rapid regeneration of optimum routes is formulated in this paper. The method initially requires the solution of a sot of simultaneous inequalities. The solution of the resulting simultaneous inequalities provides points in a real space of n dimensions that are used with a metric to facilitate the decision process in obtaining any optimum route.

摘要:
Nash equilibrium strategies of general linear-quadratic two-player difference games with two kinds of periodic information structures are considered. Solution algorithms are developed for problems where the players' information is of periodic open-loop or periodic open-closed type. In the former case the players receive measurements of the state periodically only at the beginning of each interval and in the latter case one of the players has a perfect memory information of the state within each period. The solutions are obtained by recursive algorithms where a series of coupled difference equations of Riccati type are solved repeatedly and where the boundary values of these equations are determined by similar difference equations. A new game theoretic worst case design method based on games with periodic open-closed information structure is then proposed and applied to the design of a state regulator for a pilot process. The results obtained in the example suggest that this new approach can be successfully employed in practical design problems.

摘要:
In this paper a systematic approach is developed for generating the fault-tree logic, which is the basic requirement in any reliability studies of large complex systems using Monte Carlo simulation or deterministic approaches. The entire network is decomposed into sub-networks, each sub-network involving several loops, and it becomes quite easy to determine failure logic for these loops and thus for the subnetworks. Failure of such subnetworks between the source and the sink node leads to a major system failure and therefore this successive development results in a fault tree for the whole network.These loops can be automatically generated.

摘要:
Minimal realizations of direct, parallel, and cascade digital filters are presented. The canonical realizations are developed by assigning circuit elements to represent the computational operations in the difference equations or transfer functions characterizing the digital tutors. The number of circuit elements (adders, multipliers, and delayers), and the number of constants and variables, and arithmetic operations (additions and multiplications) are noted. The costs of the three realizations are compared and systematic procedures for realizing minimal digital filters arc indicated.

摘要:
A minimal realization theory for a multivariable system is developed based on the Hankel matrices, which is closely related to the method given by Silverman (1971). The procedure provided here yields a canonical form dynamical equation. The results obtained are applied to a multivariable econometric system. The proposition of realizability and existence of a minimal realization is demonstrated, which contains both proper and strictly proper systems. Thus the correspondence between minimal realization and canonical form is clarified.

The paper describes the development of a relatively robust estimator based on the Kalman filter and the useof this estimator to detect malfunctions in the instruments of a control loop. The technique involves tracking the states of the measurement and valve position of the working loop and monitoring to detect the development of bins caused by instrument malfunction. It is obviously desirable in such an application to UBC a relatively robust estimator. The Kalman filter is a powerful technique and a natural choice, but there are certain problems in using it, of which two are particularly important in this context. One is that the filter may not behave wall if there are errors in the a priori information. The other is that the methods for the determination of bias in the estimates tend to be cumbersome. The paper discusses the solutions available to these two problems and describes the development of an estimator which incorporates an adaptive method of Mehra (1070) which handles the a priori information problem and a partitioning method of t'nd (1969) which simplifies the bias estimation problem. ]t is a feature of the estimator that information generated by the former is used in the latter. The use of the estimator to detect instrument malfunctions in a laboratory level control rig is described.
