摘要:
Singular perturbation methods are used to demonstrate that the step-response matrices of linear multivariable systems containing small ‘parasitic” elements have a distinctive structure which guarantees the robustness of both non-adaptive and adaptive controllers for such systems incorporating step-response matrices. The significance of these results in relation to the modelling of multivariable plants with ‘fast” actuators and sensors is illustrated, and their validity is demonstrated by considering a typical gas-turbine jet engine.

摘要:
An optimal control problem for linear systems is solved by the use of the Fourier series approach. The Fourier operational matrix is extended to reduce the system equations to a set of linear algebraic equations and to obtain the approximate solution. An illustrative example is given and some useful results are provided.

摘要:
[n this paper, solution of the state-space model for linear control systems using the Fourier series expansion is presented. The Fourier operational matrix of integration is introduced and computational algorithms analogous to those already developed for other orthogonal functions are proposed. These algorithms are then applied to solve the linear equations involved in the control problems. Finally, some important results and comparisons are provided.

摘要:
A new procedure based on the decomposition of the Hankel matrix is used to determine the realization of the transfer-function matrix. The realization obtained is transformed to the balanced one, and this allows its minimality to be evaluated.

摘要:
The paper develops a basis for social welfare functions using mathematical general systems theory. Although research on social welfare functions has a long history, most of it has tried to devise a new condition for social welfare functions. This paper, on the contrary, views social welfare functions from a different angle, i.e. it applies to social decision-making a unified framework which the authors originally proposed for decision principles of decision-making under uncertainty or of multiple-objective decision-making. The framework claims basically that a ‘rational” decision principle should satisfy Pareto consistency and the similarity condition. Since the similarity condition requires recognition of the structural similarity explicitly among the social profiles, it naturally leads to a category-theoretic formulation of a social welfare function. Basic properties of social welfare functions are first represented in categorical terms, and then the validity of the framework is demonstrated by discussing Arrow's ‘impossible theorem” as well as Sen's ‘liberalism condition” in it. Furthermore, this categorical treatment reveals isomorphy among the ‘rational” decision principles of decision-making under uncertainty, of decision-making with multiple objectives and of social decision-making.

摘要:
Mechanical manipulators belong to the class of non-linear multivariable systems. Their dynamics are a complex and highly non-linear function of the system configurations and loads. In this paper, model-following control laws based on the 'second method' of Lyapunov are developed for the dynamic control of a manipulator. These control laws are derived from the dynamic model of the manipulator and force the manipulator to track a linear second-order non-interacting model whose dynamic characteristics are chosen by the designer. The control systems resulting from these control laws were compared and tested on a simulated manipulator. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of this approach. A method is also developed to estimate the mass of the external loads if these are not known. This method enables the controllers to properly compensate for the effect of the loads on the manipulator.

摘要:
In this paper, the shifted Chebyshev polynomial functions approximation is extended to solve the linear ordinary differential equation of the two-point boundary-value problem. The linear ordinary differential equation of boundary-value problems are reduced to the linear functional differential equation of the initial-value problem. A new time-domain approach to the derivation of a Chebyshev transformation matrix is presented. Using the derived Chebyshev transformation matrix together with the Chebyshev integration matrix, the solution of the linear functional ordinary differential equation of initial-value problem can be obtained via shifted Chebyshev series. Two examples are given and the satisfactory computational results are compared with those of the exact solution.

摘要:
The multiple-model adaptive filter (MMAF) method is applied to the estimation of error states of inertial navigation systems (INS). Monte Carlo simulations are performed to evaluate the sensitivity of several MMAFs to uncertainties in flight condition, where a Doppler radar receiver or Omega receiver is considered as the reference information source. It is shown that the MMAF method is useful not only for a case where the actual system model is included within the candidate models, but also for a case where the actual system model is not included within the candidate models.

摘要:
Optimal input design is considered for discriminating effectively between two rival autoregressive models when the amplitude of the system output has to be regulated within a certain tolerance limit with high certainty. This constraint is more appropriate than a power constraint when an extremely large system output may cause hazardous conditions in the system. First, conditions for the optimal input are derived based on the Ds-criterion, which corresponds to the power of the likelihood ratio test. Then two approaches are presented to construct the optimal input satisfying the conditions: one is based on the idea of a Chebyshev system, and the other is an autoregressive recursion approach. Numerical simulations illustrate the applicability of the proposed optimal input for autoregressive model discrimination.
