摘要:
A theoretical development of output-sliding control for uncertain mismatched multivariable systems is presented. The control law consists of a continuous nominal control part and a discontinuous switching control part. The determination of controller gains is explicit and practical. The closed-loop eigenvalues assignment in the sliding mode is well addressed. System robustness against a larger class of parameter variations and disturbances than by conventional design methods is achieved. Simultation studies show the promise of the proposed method.

Although there have been several reports of various self-tuning proportional-plus-integral (STPI) schemes and proportional-plus-integral-plus-derivative (STPID) schemes for controllers in recent years, their theory and practice are still immature. The capabilities of this type of controller to control real physical processes need to be proven in more detail. In this light, the paper presents an application of an STPI controller proposed by Cameron and Seborg (1983) to a microcomputer-controlled water bath system. The water bath is an example of an important component in many industrial chemical processes. Experiments are conducted to test the STPI controller and to compare its performance with two other controllers, namely a self-tuning controller (STC) due to Clarke and Gawthrop (1975, 1979) and a conventional PI controller. The reliability of the STPI controller is tested by artificially adding load disturbances, simulating a change in the process dynamics, and artificially adding a variable delay element in the control loop of the process. The results prove that the performance of the STPI controller is as good as a self-tuning controller with the added advantage of having a PI-like structure. Moreover, the STPI controller performs better than the conventional PI controller, especially when there are changes in the process dynamics.

摘要:
A simple approach to synthesizing a proportional and derivative state feedback gain for assigning poles to infinity is developed. We also apply the synthesized gain to determine a doubly coprime matrix fraction description (MFD) of a state-space system and solve related problems. It is interesting to note that the MFD and the solutions to the related problems could be obtained in an explicit formula by using the synthesized gain.

This paper investigates the incentive problem of two-person Stackelberg game where the follower's responses to the leader's strategy are determined based on multiple criteria decision-making (MCDM) and the follower's preference is unknown to the leader. We first focus on the single-stage (or one-shot) game and propose a minimum-deviation incentive strategy that minimizes the influence of the follower's preference upon the leader's objective function. We also present a way to construct such a strategy. Second, we investigate the multistage game where the leader uses a feedback strategy. We explore a process along which the leader extracts information about the follower's preference from the follower's responses and uses the minimum-deviation incentive strategy at each stage until he acquires enough information to know the follower's preference. Finally, we consider the multistage case where the leader can employ a memory strategy. In this case we propose a kind of memory strategy with dual functions that makes the game's outcome irrelevant to the follower's preference and necessarily leads to the leader's most desirable outcome, even though the leader does not possess anya prioriknowledge about the follower's preference. We also derive existence conditions and illustrate a construction method for such memory strategies.

Structural approaches to synthesizing the control system are gaining popularity. At the early stages of the process design, information on process control systems is available only in the structural form involving qualitative information on relationships between the process variables, so that a structural approach is the most appropriate option for control system design at this stage. A thermally integrated distillation sequence was studied for the design of control structures during the early process design stage. A new structural approach is used to synthesize automatically the best control structure.

摘要:
An optimal production scheduling problem for an assembly process with buffers at the input and output sides of a machine is dealt with. The problem has two kinds of constraints. One constraint is that the buffers' capacity is limited. The other constraint is that the cycle time of the worker is constant without waiting time. An optimal production ordering is determined, subject to these constraints, in such a way that the rate of use of parts to produce each product should be as constant as possible. A procedure to apply the genetic algorithm to this problem is shown. The operations of reproduction, crossover and mutation are presented. It is observed from numerical results that the genetic algorithm gives a better suboptimal solution than the greedy method.

摘要:
Some generalizations on the ultimate boundedness control of uncertain systems are made in this paper. First, the ‘cone-bounded assumption’ on the plant uncertainties of a class of nominally linear uncertain systems is weakened to a more general ‘K∞-bounded assumption’. Second, we show that ‘half’ of the uncertain systems with the ‘cone-bounded assumption’ can be practically stabilized via a linear control. Third, for a class of nominally nonlinear uncertain systems with the ‘matching assumption’, a similar smooth nonlinear state feedback control can be constructed to guarantee the uniform ultimate boundedness of the closed-loop trajectories.

摘要:
A new method is presented for the transition from state-space representation to differential operator representation where dynamic and output matrices are the generalized matrix polynomials. Using this representation, we have obtained the minimal-order inverse of a linear multivariable proper system with an equal number of inputs and outputs. A numerical example is presented to illustrate the main results.
