摘要:
The concept of zero degree of difficulty mathematical problems, hitherto associated with prototype (i.e. posynomial) geometric programs, is generalized to more general convex programs. This has been motivated, in part, by the distribution problem of stochastic programming which becomes particularly simple for certain zero degree of difficulty programs. Detailed examples are given.

摘要:
In this paper the design of state reconstruction algorithms for linear discrete-time systems is analysed. It is shown that there exist several essential differences between continuous-time and discrete-time systems with respect to state observer theory. Full-order and reduced-order state reconstructors are derived and the relationship between the different algorithms is discussed.

摘要:
Optimum ordering policies for the ordering of a spare part, not only after the beginning of a unit but also before that, are considered. Introducing a continuous discount rate, two kinds of lead times, and several costs, we obtain the optimum ordering policies that minimize the expected total discounted cost. It is shown that, under certain conditions, there exists a finite and unique optimum policy. Comparisons with earlier contributions are presented.

摘要:
In a recent paper two algorithms for parameter identification of a linear dynamic system were presented. Both algorithms used a bootstrapping procedure in order to perform the simultaneous estimation/identification of the state/parameters of the system. This paper shows that the two algorithms are unacceptable. One of the algorithms is based on equations which were derived in error from an unsuitable criterion, the other algorithm is also theoretically unsound.

摘要:
The concept of absolute tracking is introduced for Lur'e control systems subjected to immeasurable disturbances and immeasurable command inputs. It is shown that the tracking characteristics of closed-loop control systems incorporating Lur'e plants with single non-linearities can be established on the basis of the absolute stability characteristics of associated free systems. These general results are illustrated by synthesizing a tracking system incorporating a simple Lur'e plant.

摘要:
This paper describes the structure and accuracy of a model depicting the housing sector of the United States as a linear dynamic system. An aggregate model is used to demonstrate the linear system approach and reconstruct the demand for housing. A disaggregated model, providing the rate of production and level of occupied housing units stratified by the number of rooms, incorporates net changes in the housing stock through additions and removals and modification through conversion and merger.

摘要:
The problem of reducing the state trajectory sensitivity to system parameter variations in linear-quadratic two-player differential games is considered. Open-loop and feedback Nash solutions are treated and two sensitivity reduction methods are developed for both solutions. The methods are based on a formulation where additional quadratic sensitivity terms are included in the players' cost functionals. The effectivity of these sensitivity reduction methods is compared by analysing the results in a simple numerical example.

摘要:
This paper deals with a number of ideas which may be applicable when investigating the use of modern optimal control theory to certain cancer chemotherapy problems. A new mathematical model is developed and incorporates the growth kinetics of the tumour together with a cell loss term involving the therapeutic agent. Then several new models with different performance criteria are discussed for populations of normal and tumour cells. The final section deals with a new control problem for a model having two compartments and a cell-cycle-specific chemotherapeutic agent.

摘要:
The purpose of the present paper is to propose an efficient algorithm to enumerate all the minimum feedback edge sets of a given directed graph. The algorithm has been developed in two distinct phases, i.e. all the directed circuits of the given graph are generated at the first phase and then the minimum feedback edge sets are determined from the information of the directed circuits. The proposed algorithm offers easy programmability on a digital computer, and it seems economic in terms of computation time and required storage space.
