摘要:
Algorithms for the identification of open- and closed-loop non-linear systems composed of linear dynamic and static non-linear elements are developed. It is shown that correlation analysis based upon compound pseudorandom inputs provides estimates of the individual component subsystems. The selection of pseudorandom inputs is discussed and simulated examples are included.

摘要:
A generalized donor-recipient controlled ecosystem model (nutrient) was utilized to study the specific effect on system sensitivity of a change in either system structure, connectivity or recipient control. A decrease in system connectivity or increase in recipient control is associated with a system becoming more sensitive to parameter variation. This is valid especially in cases where the grazing web subsystem is dominant. A decrease in connectivity deleteriously affects system sensitivity by the formation of chain structures, since a variation in the parameters (fluxes) associated with them can cause large state variable change. Recipient control affects system sensitivity owing to the inherent sensitizing affect of self-control, this being most important in the grazing web dominant structures.

摘要:
A simple gradient method for optimal parameter selection in dynamic optimization problems is presented. The method is based on the direct application of the calculus of variations for the considered class of problems. Such an approach results in a relatively small numerical complexity of the suggested algorithm. Practical experience is reported and the obtained results confirm applicability of the method not only to the solution of parameter optimization problems, but also its usefulness when solving parameter identification or two-point boundary-value problems.

摘要:
A new algorithm for linear programming, based on nested decomposition principles, is presented and illustrated. The method, labelled the primal Decomplex method (from DECOMposition and simPLEX), is distinct from other well known linear programming algorithms in that a sequence of extreme points is generated which is neither all primally nor all dually feasible. Rather, primal feasibility to only pars of the constraint set is enforced at each instant. A distinguishing feature of the method is its relative simplicity : anm-row linear program is decomposed intomsub-problems each consisting of a single (transformed) constraint and a convexity row.

摘要:
Observers are often used to provide estimates of inaccessible states which can be used for the purpose of pole placement. The design of the composite-observer feedback scheme may be separated into the design for the original system assuming the states to be accessible and the design of the observer. At times it is desirable that the poles of a system are attracted towards preferred regions of the complex plane rather than be placed at exact locations. To achieve this one may use multivariable root locus techniques and it is shown here that observers could be used to make estimates of inaccessible states available for the purposes of zero placement and manipulation of root-locus asymptotic directions. Irrespective of whether one uses a full- or reduced-order observer it is shown that as for the case of pole placement the overall root locus design may be separated into the design of the original system assuming that all the states are accessible and the design of the observer.

摘要:
This paper presents a detailed investigation on various problems associated with the self-diagnosable digital systems. An efficient algorithm has been developed to check thet-diagnosability of a given system and several interesting results have been developed to optimize this checking procedure. The paper also embodies efficient solutions to the related problems of checking redundant edges, improving system diagnosability and identification of faulty units for a given output response.

摘要:
A temporal sampling strategy is explored for identifying the parameters for a state model of a dynamic system. This results in the analysis of upper and lower bounds for the sample period of equally spaced discrete-time experimental data required to completely describe the dynamics of a continuous-time system. Through Monte Carlo simulations applied to an example system, a statistical interpretation of the sampling interval bounds is obtained. Application of the results of this analysis is general within the class of compartmental systems.
