摘要:
Given a set of n independent jobs with deterministic processing times and the same ready times, the problem is to find the optimal processing-time multiple k* for the TWK-power due-date assignment method, and the optimal job sequence σ* to minimize a total cost function. It is found that k* is a function of job sequence and σ* should be in SPT sequence. After the theoretical treatment, a numerical example is given for discussion.

摘要:
This paper presents two mathematical models representing on-surface transportation systems. The supplementary variables method is used to develop the system availability expressions. Two general formulae are developed for the transit system availability when the repair time distribution is described by the Erlangian distribution. The plots show the effect of vehicle failure rate, degradation rate, towing rate and repair rate on transit-system availability.

摘要:
A new simple method is proposed for designing a single-loop digital controller using a computer-oriented algebraic method. The aim of this paper is to determine the parameters of the controller of a linear digital control system, provided the configuration of the controller has been specified. The proposed controller can achieve an arbitrarily specified closed-loop response and is determined by solving a set of linear algebraic equations. An example is given to show the characteristic features of the method.

摘要:
A new time-domain approach to the derivation of a Jacobi scaled matrix is presented. The Jacobi scaled matrix derived, together with the Jacobi integration matrix, is used to analyse and identify functional differential equations containing terms with a scaled argument. The algorithms proposed are easily implementable on a digital computer. As illustrated in the examples included, the Jacobi method has a faster convergence rate than other types of orthogonal function, such as the Walsh, block-pulse and Laguerre functions.

摘要:
In this paper a newly developed theory concerning the analysis of the trajectory sensitivity of linear uncertain systems is first reviewed. An index suggested by the theory is then introduced to represent the sensitivity of a system. Based on this index, we devise a method for synthesizing low-sensitivity constant-gain feedback regulators. Both academic illustrative and practical design examples are provided to explain these concepts and techniques.

摘要:
A simple theoretical stochastic model is developed and used to calculate the probability of a major outbreak of a disease. This is suitable for a disease spreading in a large population subject to control by immunization. In the absence of immunization, the disease is assumed to spread by each person infecting a fixed number of others. Recurrence relations are derived for the probability of a major epidemic outbreak. These are solved by analytical methods and the resulting solutions explored numerically.

This paper deals with a system of two linear ordinary differential equations representing the rate of change with respect to time of the liquid and the non-liquid assets of a company. These equations involve a control variable that gives the rate at which the company invests. The objective is to find the investment policy that will maximize the minimal value taken by the liquid assets, assuming that the company remains in business forever. The actual value of the minimal liquid assets obtained by using this optimal policy is also determined.

摘要:
An approach to the sensitivity analysis of systems modelled as a set of linear algebraic equations Ax = b is presented. First- and second-order sensitivities of the system variables to changes in system parameters, i.e. non-zero elements of the matrix A, are derived. Two kinds of parameter perturbation are discussed: single parameter perturbation and perturbations of all the system parameters. A structural approach is applied, consisting in partitioning of the system into a number of irreducible, acyclically interconnected subsystems. This approach reduces the computational effort and yields a qualitative sensitivity assessment; i.e. it is possible to exclude the influence of certain parameters on some variables.

摘要:
The generalized orthogonal polynomials (GOP) which include all types of orthogonal polynomials are applied to the analysis of stiff systems. Using the idea of orthogonal polynomial functions which can be expressed by a power series and vice versa, the integration operational matrix of the GOP is derived. The state variables are expressed in a GOP series. An effective computational algorithm in which the whole time region is divided into several small time intervals is proposed. Only one or two terms of expansion coefficients are enough to get accurate results. The expansion coefficients are only required to be determined at the first time interval and can be used in the subsequent time intervals. A very simple recursive formula is developed to calculate the state functions. Four illlustrative examples are given and very satisfactory computational results are obtained.
