摘要:
A new aggregation form of large-scale systems is proposed in this paper. It is of the ‘Lotka-Volterra’ type and appears natural for the generalized Lotka-Volterra large-scale (possibly time-varying) systems, which is shown in the paper. The Lotka-Volterra aggregation form yields a comparison system of the generalized Lotka-Volterra type, which is composed of a linear and a non-linear part. In addition this aggregation form leads to new stability conditions for time-varying large-scale systems, and enables an extension of Weissenberger's results on exponential stability domain estimates to the asymptotic stability domain estimate of time-varying systems. An advantageous feature of the system aggregation and stability analysis developed in the paper is the omission of requirements for (any particular, e.g. exponential) stability of disconnected subsystems.

摘要:
Two formulations of stochastic LP problems as two-person non-zero sum games exe suggested here and their optimal Nash equilibrium strategies characterized. The theorems serve to generalize the solution concept in stochastic linear programming and have therefore potential applicability m empirical situations.

摘要:
The paper considers the problem of matching exactly the transfer function matrix of a given 2-D (two-dimensional) system to that of a desired 2-D model using output feedback, where in the feedback loop proportional (P), integral (I) and derivative (D) terms are present. The approach followed reduces the problem to that of solving a linear system of algebraic equations. Furthermore, necessary and sufficient conditions are established for exact matching. An example is included to illustrate the proposed technique.

摘要:
This paper discusses on-line detection and prediction problems of the failure or life of stochastic systems by using autoregression (AR) models. We regard the change of the equipment from an ordinary state to failure as a variation of the characteristics of a time aeries signal. An AR model is fitted to the time aeries signal and the change is detected by variations of the model. Using four types of performance index of the variations, we detect the failure of a cutting tool of a lathe and predict the width of flank wear.

摘要:
A new time-invariant linear smoothing filter is derived for finite data records. The message generating process is assumed to be represented by constant state equations driven by stationary white noise. The smoothing filter transfer function matrix is obtained by solving the finite-time Wiener-Hopf equation in the ϵ-domain. The filter has the property that it produces an optimal state estimate ◯(T1|T) at the end of a fixed interval of length [0, T], At other times within the interval the filtor acts as a fixed-lag smoother and gives a sub-optimal state estimate ◯(t1|t). At timest<Tthe filter has a fixed memory length. The more conventional optimal time-varying smoother may also be calculated using the expression for the time-invariant smoother impulse response matrix. The major advantage of the time-invariant smoother lies in the ease of implementation. The stability of these smoothing filters is discussed and examples are given of the calculation procedure.

摘要:
Multiple criteria decision theory (MCDT) approaches to choice making are receiving increased attention due to the increasing importance society places on incorporating the non-commensurate and conflicting objectives of a situation into the choice making process. Process algorithms for multiple objective optimization theory (MOOT) and multiple attribute utility, theory (MAI5T) motivated a combined approach which utilizes, in an efficient manner, the complementary aspects of both processes. An appropriate application for the multiple criteria approach is a specific military equipment acquisition involving aircraft retrofit. The retrofit of a particular aircraft with equipment designed for a mission which the aircraft was not originally designed to fly typically requires a large systems effort. Specifically, the retrofit of an aircraft with sophisticated electronic warfare (EW) equipment has historically involved inefficiencies and inadequacies including schedule and budgetary overruns and a lack of initially specified final product performance. Development of a useful combined MOOT/MAUT process seems a logical choice to ameliorate the difficulties of current electronic warfare aircraft retrofit design (EWARD) processes. This paper generates a set of criteria for evaluation of alternative retrofit systems in the defence systems acquisition cycle and develops an efficient framework for EWARD through extension of a MCDT approach for this application.

摘要:
Regarding the cattle industry in Greece, the main concern is to promote self-sufficiency, in the context of minimizing imports, by increasing the output. Since in multi-product farms, there is a close interdependence regarding production response and changes in relative profitability, the problem set is to determine the optimal price policy for attaining some pro-assigned levels of production without reducing the stocks. In this context an optimal control problem has been formulated for the purpose of deriving the optimum structure of the relative farm prices. The control problem has been solved by applying a procedure which utilizes some useful properties of the generalized inverse. The method has been found to be quite efficient, for a certain class of optimal control problems, when compared with other routine methods.
