摘要:
This paper is concerned with the investigation of an optimal form of excitation for external control of long-term ventilation of the lungs. An up-to-date model of the respiratory system is considered and the minimization of work done by the lungs during the respiratory period is chosen as the performance index for determination of the optimal excitation. With this optimal excitation, whose frequency is determined in terms of the natural resonant frequency of the lungs, an optimal adaptive controller is synthesized adopting the Bellman dynamic programming technique. The adaptive controller minimizes the harmful effects arising due to the change of respiratory parameters for controlled ventilution.

The ’ basic ’ infeasible gradient-type coordination algorithm for dynamical systems is considered. Differentiability properties of the dual function of the resulting min-max problem are studied. A theorem giving sufficient conditions for tho differentiability of the dual function in the dynamic case is presented.

摘要:
In this paper we consider certain problems of optimal feedback control of systems governed by a general Ito stochastic differential equation that allows for jumps in tho diffusion process. It will bo shown that these stochastic optimal feedback eontrol problems can be converted into problems of optimal control of deterministic systems described by a parabolic integro-partial-difforential equation. Both tho fixed terminal time and the Markov terminal time problems are converted to optimal control problems of distributed parameter systems with Cauchy condition. However, tho stochastic optimal feedback control problem with Markov terminal time can also bo reduced to the optimal eontrol problem of deterministic systems described by a partial integro-difforcntial equation of parabolic type with the first boundary condition. Further it is interesting to note that tho objective funetionals for all tho reduced problems have precisely the same form.

摘要:
Several computational techniques to optimize the performance measure of linear state-regulator problems are thoroughly investigated. These techniques possess the central notions of multilevel decomposition-coordination procedures and are divided into four basic categories with each category containing two alternative methods. It has been proved from the coordinability standpoint that the optimization techniques of three categories are dual pairs. Structural properties as well as the main advantages and limitations of the various methods are carefully pointed out in order to evaluate their range of practicality. For the different two-level control structures developed in this work, the concept of system coordinability is elegantly related to the system functional controllability and observability concepts.

A frequency domain stability criterion for cross-coupled symmetrical two-dimensional nonlinear stochastic systems is presented. It has been shown that tho effect of additivo white gaussian noise is to make the system less stable. A simple geometric interpretation of tho criterion is presented.

摘要:
A model for a real-time minicomputer oporating system is described in this paper. The approach taken here was to use the GPSS simulation language to test the efficiency of the operating system model. The model allows the system analyst to experiment with different configuration of priority task and priority devices mixture that can run on the minicomputer operating system. The main objective of this simulation is to identify the devices that may bottleneck the system and to find out how many tasks can be efficiently run on the system at the same time.

摘要:
This paper doala with tho suboptimal control of a stochastic second-order system. It is assumed that the system is subjected to two different kinds of perturbation. The first kind of perturbation is represented by the standard Wiener process and tho second kind by a homogeneous process with independent increments, finite second-order moments, mean zero and no continuous sample paths. The stochastic system is approximated by a diffusion type system, and the optimal feedback control laws for the diffusion type system are chosen as the suboptimal controls for the given system. It is shown that in order to construct tho suboptimal controls, a non-linear partial differential equation and a linear partial integro-difforontial equation, have to be solved. A finite difference algorithm for the solution of these equations is proposed, and its efficiency and applicability are demonstrated with examples.

摘要:
A technique familiar to control system engineers, namely pole assignment, is used to design a controller for maintaining the concentration of dissolved oxygon in a polluted stream at a desired level. Artificial in-stream aeration and volumetric flow rate of effluent discharge are used as the controls. Since the model parameter values are affected by the controls, and since all the states are not available for feedback, the polo-assignment technique described here uses output feedback and minimizes the sensitivity of the polos to parameter variations. Computer simulation results are included.

摘要:
Decoupling of systems governed by differential-differenco equations of the retarded and neutral type is considered. Necessary and sufficient conditions for algebraic non-interaction are derived. A class of de-coupling feedback control laws and the resulting closed-loop structure are presented. A sufficient condition for the realizability of decoupling controllers has been obtained using function space approach.
