This paper develops reliability models for redundant systems containing units with stress-dependent failure probabilities. The flow of failures is treated as a process of pure death. The effect of degree of dependency on system reliability and mean time to failure (MTTF) is discussed and illustrated in detail.

摘要:
This paper considers the duality of linear fixed-point smoothing and fixed-time quadratic regulator problems in which the quadratic cost functional is positive definite with respect to control. It is further shown that the dual of the fixed-point smoothing algorithms in coloured measurement noise is the fixed-time regulator in which the quadratic cost functional is restricted to be non-negative definite.

摘要:
Design of controllers for large-scale systems often requires methods based on decomposition and decentralization to overcome the twin problems of high dimensionality and constraints on the information structure. In this paper a two-level control scheme that effectively utilizes these methods for the optimization of large-scale discrete systems is presented. Decentralized controllers that optimize individual decoupled subsystems while ignoring the interactions constitute a set of local controllers at the first level, while a global controller at a higher hierarchical level is used to minimize the suboptimality of performance resulting due to the presence of the interactions. Such a control scheme is robust, simple to implement and guarantees global asymptotic stability of the overall system.

摘要:
In this paper the stability of complex systems composed of interconnected subsystems is investigated. The results are derived by studying a comparison system, the dimension of which is equal to the number of subsystems. Special attention is given to the estimation of the stability region of the complex system. The stability analysis of the comparison system is carried out without using a Lyapunov function. This approach permits an extension of the results of Weissenberger (1973) who treated an analogous problem.

Wo wish to present results which provide explicit regions of asymptotic stability. The results replace these words, 1 sufficiently small', by explicit estimates which are simple.

A frequency-domain approach is presented for the design of optimum input signals for identifying the parameters of a linear system. This method is intuitively appealing, and can be applied to synthesize a binary input which is sufficiently close to the optimum. An example from an earlier paper is solved directly using this approach.

Once the problem of identification of a non-linear system from input—output records is posed, we show under which conditions it is equivalent to the estimation of a linear mapping: the input and output functions must belong to metric spaces and the system must define an injective continuous mapping, then there exist an estimator of this mapping that belongs to a Banaeh space, only attainable restriction of the set of mappings to which the given non-linear system belongs.
