摘要:
A method is presented for determining the parameters of a stochastic model for an educational system, based on the time-series analysis approach. As an example the parameters of such a model are derived for the student population in the Faculty of Engineering at McMaater University

摘要:
This paper is concerned with the design of specified sequence linear feedback shift registers. Given a linear shift register sequence of maximum length or otherwise, three methods are described to determine the logical structure of the corresponding feedback shift register. Of these, Method 1 is based on the linear recurrence concept and involves solving a set of simultaneous equations over the linear field OF(2.)Method 2 makes use of the concept of generating function associated with a shift register sequence and gives the results by polynomial division. Based upon the deterministic sense of the sequence generation, Method 3 involves the formation of the Boolean-version of the feedback logic function and its subsequent conversion to a linear polynomial as a modulo-2 sum of the stored digits in the register. Some examples are given to clear the course of the analysis.

摘要:
In this paper, simple matricial methods are used to develop a basis for the design of multivariablo tracking systems which incorporate feedforward and feedback controllers. It is known that the required asymptotic tracking behaviour can be achieved by using only a feedback controller which incorporates integral action (Porter and Bradshaw 1974). However, it is shown in this paper that a composite design which includes a feedforward controller and a feedback controller with both proportional and integral action has a superior tracking performance in certain respects.

摘要:
This paper develops a mathematical model for a system composed of product producing processes. The system is divided into subsets of processes called cycles. In each cycle the processes are linearly ordered and related by a cause and effect relationship where a change in any one process propagates from process to process throughout the entire cycle. This cause and effect relationship is a structure on processes of a cycle which asserts that each process of the cycle performs a step in a sequence of steps that finally load to the main product for which the cycle is identified. It is shown here that this model exhibits many of the empirical properties we would expect. It obeys a conservation law. Also in its state of equilibrium reserves are unchanged and it is neither efficient nor inefficient. There are also additional empirically expected phenomena which it exhibits. With this model the system is also shown to be able to insulate itself from environmental stimuli which could be regarded as a state of sleep or hibernation. Clearly such a model has application to many disciplines including biology, economics and ecology.

摘要:
A model has been developed to derive scheduled replacement operating-ago maintenance policies for the critical parts of aircraft based on multiple criteria : the lowest possible operating cost per unit of time, minimal mission reliability, and minimal expected inflight failure cost. An example has been given, using the Weibull distribution.
