摘要:
This paper deals with the modular realization of sequential machines using shift registers as the modules. For a given minimal machine, the minimum number of modules required for its realization has been determined. It is well known that the number of modules required to realize a given machine can sometimes be reduced by realizing a non-minimal machine equivalent to the given minimal one, i.e. by assigning multiple codes to the states of the given minimal machine. This case is dealt with in the second part of the paper.

摘要:
Following the convergence proofs for stochastic approximation identification of pure autoregressive (AR) processes with dependent observations, as derived by Saridis and Stein, it is shown that the convergence for mixed autoregressive-moving-average (ARMA) cases can also be proved when none of the AR or the MA parameters or of the covariances are assumed known. Consequently, a generalized stochastic approximations identification procedure for ARMA processes is derived, which is extendable to any linear Kalrman filter models.

摘要:
The aim of this paper is to present a mathematical model for a system to control an object favourably which is unknown for the system—an adaptive system. We make the concept of adaptiveness precise first and consider systems as stochastic sequential machines (SSM's) to answer the question : what kind of logical structure is necessary and sufficient for a SSM to be adaptive. Some necessary conditions for a SSM to be adaptive are shown, and for a specified class of SSM's, the necessary and sufficient conditions to be adaptive are given. Furthermore, some examples of adaptive SSM's are shown.

摘要:
Deterministic Informationless Lindenmayer Sytems with Tables (DTOL) aro systems introduced for the mathematical modelling of the development of Filainontoita organisms under changing environmental conditions. The sequence equivalence problem for DTOL, i.e. the problem of determining whether the sequences of organisms produced by two given DTOL are equal, is open in the general case. We introduce hero a weaker notion of equivalence between DTOL, to be called similarity, and prove its decidability. We also prove the decidability of the original sequence-equivalence problem for some particular cases.

摘要:
The paper develops recursive techniques for off-line identification of linear and nonlinear systems. It is shown that if the system is linear and time invariant, impulse response characterization of the system coupled with an orthogonal series approximation can be utilized for the purpose stated above. The techniques of adaptive Kalman filtering are shown to be applicable, which besides permitting recursive evaluation of the coefficients, lead to a number of important advantages. In the second part of the study, the proposed method is extended for recursive identification of a class of non-linear systems which can be represented as a cascade combination of a linear dynamical system and a non-linear zero memory system. The method of Volterra series representation of such systems is utilized. Results are illustrated through numerical examples in each case.

摘要:
The method of multipliers is used to compute optimal economic policies in an econometric model of Canada. The method is well suited for the optimization of medium size non-linear econometric models and provides a good evaluation of the Lagrange multipliers which can serve for economic interpretation. From an economic point of view, it is shown that the exchange rate can be efficiently used to fight inflation.

摘要:
This paper investigates the- feasibility of automated design of lower-order models for high-order systems where the order of the model can be increased efficiently according to desired performance criteria. The modelling can be done for a variety of objectives with or without constraints, so that a realistic on-line or off-line design can be achieved to satisfy a set of arbitrary transient and steady-state response specifications. Suitable examples are chosen to illustrate the modelling procedure.
