The problem of uniform disturbance localization with simultaneous uniform decoupling for linear time-varying analytic systems via static state feedback is investigated, for the first time. The approach presented has the main feature that it reduces the problem to that of solving a homogeneous algebraic system of equations. On the basis of this basic system of equations, the following aspects of the problem are resolved: the necessary and sufficient solvability conditions, the general analytical expressions of all admissible controllers and the morphological characteristics of the closed-loop system

摘要:
In this paper the chaotic phenomenon and bifurcation in numerical computation using the Runge-Kutta method to discretize the nonlinear differential equation are investigated. It is shown that the bifurcation condition in the discretized equation is given by the eigenvalue of the jacobian matrix of the original differential equation. As an example, the bifurcation and chaos when a second-order nonlinear equation is discretized by the Runge-Kutta method is investigated and it is shown that the scenario from a stable fixed point to chaos when the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method is applied is quite different from those of the second-order Runge-Kutta method

Parametric nonlinear evolution inclusions driven by time-dependent subdifferentials are considered. First some continuous dependence results are proved for the solution set (of both the convex and non-convex problems) and for the set of solution-selector pairs (of the convex problem). Then a continuous version is derived of the Filippov-Gronwall inequality, using which the parametric relaxation theorem is proved. An example of a parabolic distributed parameter system is also worked out in detail

Urban design review has traditionally been fraught with allegations of subjectivity. While reviewers strive to ensure projects that are in the best interests of the community, the mechanisms for and language of evaluation are often arbitrary and inconsistent. With any evaluation process, the more objective and standardized the assessment instruments are, the more assurance is afforded by the community. The proposed ‘urban design assessment model’ is one mechanism based on the mathematical concepts of fuzzy set theory that attempts to address this problem, while assuming a role as a tool to complement rather than supplant existing mechanisms of review. The paper is presented in four parts. The first part is the introduction to the paper. The second part briefly explains the term ‘urban design’ and the different approaches to urban design review. The third part describes the proposed urban design assessment model. This section also discusses the basic concept of the fuzzy set and explains the model through an example. In the fourth part, the conclusion of the paper, the strengths and weaknesses of the proposed model are examined

摘要:
This paper presents the results of an investigation into the use of GMDH neural networks for system modelling and prediction. A number of Adalines with nonlinear preprocessors were trained to yield a GMDH neural network. The training was carried out by applying the Widrow-Hoff learning rule. The structure of the network, i.e. the number of layers and the number of Adalines in each layer, was determined during training. The results obtained have shown that this type of network can successfully be employed for various system modelling and prediction tasks

It is a recognized fact that monopolies need not be detrimental to consumers' interests (compared with competition), in particular, from evolutionary aspects. This paper provides an additional rationale for the potential superiority of monopolies (here, over Nash competing oligopolies) when consumers' demand is dynamic. For this purpose, a model of intertemporal consumer demand decisions is developed. This framework focuses on services, e.g. mobility, thermal comfort, that are produced with two substitutable inputs, durables and non-durables (energy). The derived demand for energy is integrated with intertemporal supply, oligopolistic and monopolistic. It will be shown that consumers may prefer in such a dynamic setting a monopoly compared with (oligopolistic) competition

This paper is concerned with the analysis of the axial deformation of a viscoelastic rod whose heredity is modelled in terms of fractional derivatives. We prove the existence, the uniqueness, and the strong asymptotic stability of the solution. Our approach (which can be extended to several other types of physical models with fractional damping) is based on the input-output behaviour of a suitable diffusion system and allows the transformation of the original model into an equivalent augmented system whose analysis is less complicated. Finite-time and infinite-time tracking properties are defined. They raise new tracking problems studied in the framework of time-invariant continuous-time linear multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems with a state-space description. New system and control concepts are introduced and defined: the finite-time and infinite-timenatural trackabilityconcepts, and that ofelementwise exponential tracking.The necessary conditions and sufficient conditions are proved for these concepts. The problem of synthesizing an appropriate control to be called the natural tracking control will be solved via high-gain PI natural tracking control. It guarantees either finite-time or infinite-time elementwise exponential tracking. The high-gain natural tracking controller is synthesized with the knowledge of the system transfer matrix function with respect to the control, and this is the only information required about the system in order to design the controller. Knowledge or measurement of the system internal states and system external disturbances is also not required. Several illustrative examples demonstrate these concepts

A simple computational algorithm is presented for calculating the coprime matrix fraction description and minimal state-space representation of a multivariable linear system specified by a transfer function matrix. The concept of admissibility of pseudo-observability indices is utilized in the algorithm to permit extraction of the most convenient representations, in the sense that the representation elements have the lowest absolute values.
