摘要:
In this note a hierarchical solution is developed for non-linear dynamical systems with linear controls. The method involves defining a linear model which incorporates a desirod response for the system and then following this model without using excessive control effort. This latter problem is solved within a two-level structure using a modified pseduo-model coordination method.

摘要:
This paper examines the problem of the approximate reconstruction of the unknown state variables in distributed-parameter systems. New results on the observer theory for important classes of linear and non-linear operator, partial differential, and partial differential-integral equations in describing distributed-parameter systems are presented. The specific developments employ the recent results on Lyapunov stability theory, along with the theory of linear and non-linear semigroup operators, and their infinitesimal generators. The questions of observability, stability of the state reconstruction error dynamics associated with the proposed observer structure are discussed. The theoretical results are illustrated with some applications to problems of the kinetic lumping of complex distributed-parameter chemical reaction systems, as well as the observer design for linear and non-linear distributed-parameter diffusion systems.

Methods developed for the reduction in order of single-input/single-output systems are extended to the reduction of linear, constant, equal input/equal output multivariable systems. The methods considered are the continued fraction and the Padé approximation techniques. Examples are given to illustrate the method.

摘要:
A matrix polynomial equation is derived which governs the behaviour of time-invariant multivariable systems under linear state variable feedback. This is used to derive the f-invariants of the system. The problem of decoupling is considered using this matrix polynomial equation and conditions for decoupling are easily derived from it. An algorithm for decoupling is then presented. Examples are given to illustrate the procedure.

摘要:
This paper deals with the error analysis of the Schmidt—Kalman filter message and observation models.which contain uncertain parameters. The error quantity considered is the actual covariance which is the mean square of the difference between the nominal state and the misidentified estimate. After deriving the Schmidt—Kalman filter, the error analysis is considered due to two causes, one of which is misidentifying the coefficients of the system, the covariances of the noises and the variance of the initial state and the other of which is simplifying the coloured measurement noise by the white measurement noise. A boundedness theorem of the error equation is considered in the remaining part. Only systems governed by continuous-time linear equations are treated here.

摘要:
An optimal forecasting technique has been developed by us from the viewpoint of mutual information. Generalization of this process is considered for the time series with correlated errors. The recommended technique is also compared with the prevailing method based on the Kalman filter in the optimality. The results indicate that the former may improve the latter in the effectiveness of forecasting.

摘要:
The components of long-range sales forecasting are considered as an entire system. Thus, rather than dealing with the improvement of mathematical models to forecast sales, or to consider group dynamics for ‘ bottom-up ’ forecasting, attention is focused on an adjustment to the existing forecast. This enables the adjusted forecast to provide a more accurate estimate without modifying the basic procedures. In addition, this technique provides a confidence interval for the single-valued sales estimate.
