摘要:
This paper reviews eight methods for estimating the form of non-stationary parameter variation from input-output data when the parameter variation model is unknown. The methods discussed are based upon error bounding and adaptive estimation, and assessment of the relative efficacy of each method is carried out by the use of simulation experiments with two models of parameter variation: deterministic parameter changes, and an autoregressive model of parameter changes. It is concluded from this analysis that estimation based upon exponential data weighting, the random walk model, and Sage-Husa filter will usually be best in a variety of situations.

摘要:
In this paper it is shown that the method ofD-partition can be used to investigate the stabilizability by linear state feedback of a class of continuous-time production-inventory systems in which the control policies are retarded by finite time-delays. The theory is illustrated by the presentation of typical transient and steady-state response characteristics of controlled production-inventory systems of this class.

摘要:
The paper presents 0-1 integer programming models for the control of maintenance expenditure on thermal generating units. Choosing a sound and effective maintenance policy reduces the system down-time and thus increases the revenue to the utility. The objective is aimed at selecting that sot of proposals which will maximize the not present value of its total expected return. The alternative proposals, the forecasts of the net present value of the returns associated with the alternatives, the number of repairmen required for each alternative, and cash outflow required over the next 5 years are available for the analysis. The problem is discussed both under conditions of certainty and uncertainty. A new, simple and efficient tree search method is developed for the solution of the problems. A computer algorithm is developed and results of computation are presented for sample applications.

摘要:
Analysis of traffic on a two-lane road is approached in the first part of this paper by a microscopic deterministic model, traffic density being kept constant by means of a circular road. The results are transferred afterwards to a macroscopic stochastic system. Some of the data used in the deterministic model are looked upon, in the second part, as random observations from the macroscopic stochastic system. The average speed of a car having a given free speed and travelling on a road with a given density is obtained. Secondary results concerning average delay period and average free speed period are also derived.

摘要:
An optimal control problem, concerned with a heat conduction process of a moving material in a furnace, is posed. Due to the stochastic nature of the process only a suboptimal version of the problem is treated. This is done in the following manner. First the process is modelled by using an adequate stochastic partial differential equation. Then, sufficient conditions are found on suboptimal controls in the form of a sot of non-linear partial differential equations. Finally, a central finite differences scheme is proposed to solve the set of equations, and the applicability of the scheme is demonstrated by examples.

摘要:
An important problem in system theory is whether a dynamic system is controllable with inputs from the class of admissible controls. This paper treats the case whore the dynamic system is described by differential-difference equations and the class of admissible control inputs consists of piecewise constant functions. This situation arises in practice in the on-line control of some industrial processes. Euclidean space and function space controllability are studied, and controllability conditions which are both necessary and sufficient are derived forRnandRnnull controllability. Simple algebraic conditions are also given for two special cases. In the study of function space null controllability the concept ofj-controllability is introduced and a sufficiency theorem is stated in terms of this new concept.
