摘要:
The scope of the differential transformation technique, developed earlier for the study of non-linear, time invariant systems, has been extended to the domain of time-varying systems by modifications to the differential transformation laws proposed therein. Equivalence of a class of second-order, non-linear, non-autonomous systems with a linear autonomous model of second order is established through these transformation laws. The feasibility of application of this technique in obtaining the response of such non-linear time-varying systems is discussed.

摘要:
Optimal control problems of hereditary systems have been given a great deal of attention in recent years. In this paper a class of non-linear systems with finite heredity in both the state and the control variables is considered. Using Pontryagin's geometric approach necessary conditions not only for the optimal control but also for the optimal initial control are derived. In the linear time-optimal case theorems for the form and uniqueness of the optimal control and optimal initial control are given. An example of a Fixed-time energy-optimal problem demonstrates the effect of the optimization of the initial control.

摘要:
This paper presents e. simple outline of analysis of a typical system of technical education. A desirable model is illustrated with mathematical modelling of the related subsystems in a simple form. The problem of optimal admission and allocation of students into different branches of study is discussed with respect to a performance index based on employment. Such an optimal allocation of students Leads to useful guidelines for the case of resource allocation in the educational system. The aspect of individual human behaviour and its influence on the main results is not discussed in detail, only to emphasize the meaningfulness of the approach at least in admissible situations.

The statistical behaviour of the block-organized buffers is studied under Poisson input and periodic block output. Analytical expressions concerning mean information loss, channel utilization and expected queueing delay in relation to traffic intensity, block size and buffer length are derived.

In this paper a class of non-linear hereditary control systems is considered and necessary conditions for optimality of the initial data {u(t),φ(t)/t∈[∝,t0]} and the control {u(t)/t∝[t0,t1]} are derived. The results are direct extensions of Pontryagin's Maximum Principle. An example demonstrates the effect of the optimal selection of the initial data.

摘要:
In this paper we consider a class of stochastic linear Ito differential equations with control parameters. It is shown (theorem 2.1) that the set of conditional probability measures, generated by the differential system in response to a class of bounded measurable controls with values in a compact convex subsetUof a finite dimensional Euclidean spaceRv, is equivalent to those corresponding to controls taking values only on the boundary of the setU. Further this set of conditional probability measures is shown (theorem 2.2) to be weakly compact. These results are then used to prove the existence (theorem 2.4) of an optimal control that satisfies the so called ’ bang-bang ’ principle (Hermes and LaSalle, p. 46).

The ‘ phase velocity ’ of the system considered in this paper depends on the past of both the states (Oguztoreli, p. 184) and the controls (Banks and Jacobs, p. 464). However the results of Oguztöreli, Banks and Jacobs do not cover the dynamics of the plant considered in this paper. It is shown in this paper that by use of astronger topologyfor the class of measurable controls it is possible to prove theclosureof the set of trajectories (called the ‘ T-set ’) without requiring the ‘ velocity field ’ to be convex. This generalizes the class of systems at the expense of generality of the control class. In fact there is a trade-off between the two and one can be improved at the expense of the other.

The optimum price switching problem consists in determining simultaneously the optimum prices as well as the optimum decision times for switching from price to price. This paper proposes a dynamic formulation for the pricing problem faced by a firm, and provides neee9aary conditions for the optimality of both prices and price switches. Subsequently, the paper discusses the economics of price selection and the economics of decision times.

摘要:
The COHF algorithm solves block tridiagonal systems of equations by solving a series of systems each the size of one block. If the block dimension of the original system is 2k+1—1 then (k+ 1)2ksystems must be solved. It is shown that this number can be reduced to 3.2k— k — 2. The principle application of this scheme is in the solution of equations derived from elliptic partial differential equations on irregular regions.
