SUMMARY670 measurements of biparietal diameter at varying gestations were obtained from 510 women who had normal singleton pregnancies of known gestation. A graph showing the mean and upper and lower confidence limits of biparietal diameter and gestation has been prepared. The mean correlates well with a composite prepared from five overseas populations. The confidence limits are however, narrower, making the graph more suitable for an Australian population.

SUMMARYA specific form of proximal renal artery stenosis may cause secondary hypertension in a patient with neurofibromatosis usually less than 20 years old. The angiographic features, which are described in detail and related to the underlying pathology, include not only a smooth narrowing at the origin of affected vessels, but also variable poststenotic dilatation, or even distal aneurysm formation, and possibly a collateral circulation. The importance of age incidence in differential arteriographic diagnosis is emphasized and the place of angiographic findings in deterrnining the advisability or otherwise of operative treatment is indicated briefly. In an adolescent case now reported, multiple renal arteries and ureteric notching by anastomotic vessels were striking features shown by radiological investigation.

SUMMARYIn this series 200 abdominal aortic ultrasound examinations performed on 163 patients were reviewed. Normal or ectatic aortas were visualized in 73 (44%) and aneurysm in 85 (52%) patients. Other aortic and non‐aortic pathology was demonstrated. Abdominal and peripheral angiography was performed on 53 (32%) patients and comparison with ultrasonic findings was made. 23 (14%) patients underwent surgery. SUMMARY53 paediatric patients underwent Metrizamide myelography with pre‐ and post‐operative assessment as per the protocol previously outlined. Despite its recognised minimal neurotoxicity, no convulsions or depression of vital signs were recorded. Adverse reactions were within acceptable clinical levels. SUMMARYLead bullets discharged with high energy will shatter when they impact on bone. Should the contact with bone take place within the capsule of a joint the synovium will be outlined subsequently by the trans‐synovial spread of small fragments. The curious radiologic appearance that consequently develops bears some resemblance to an orthodox arthrogram and is here termed a ‘plumbogram’.
