SummaryRadiographs of stillborn and dead newborn infants have been analysed to assess the incidence of evidence of foetal death in utero and the occurrence of skeletal abnormalities.A consultative centre for congenital bone diseases is being established at the Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children in Sydney. Skeletal survey films, photographs of the patient, and basic biochemical tests should be available in cases for consultation. SummaryA review has been made of 105 patients investigated during the past 18 months in whom there has been a strong clinical possibility of placenta praevia.The techniques used have been soft tissue radiography and placental scanning. Some 75 placental scans and 72 radiographic examinations have been reviewed.Technical details are discussed with special reference to placental scanning techniques and their problems. Our experience suggests that placental scanning is a highly accurate means of localizing the placenta.Placental scanning should be used as the first means of diagnosis of ante‐partum haemorrhage from 26 to 34 weeks' gestation.After 34 weeks' gestation soft tissue radiography should, in general, be the first means of diagnosis. SummaryA case report is presented of a patient given radical radiotherapy for an invasive carcinoma of the cervix at the twenty‐sixth week of pregnancy.The infant, delivered by extended Caesarean hysterectomy at the thirty‐third week, died on the third neonatal day from anaemia and gastric haemorrhage.
