ABSTRACTThe medical records and IVP examinations of 143 patients presenting with renal colic have been reviewed. The study has demonstrated that renal colic is more common in males, is rare under the age of 20 and may be precipitated by dehydration. The IVP has been shown to be a useful examination in renal colic due to nephrolithiasis, providing guidance to management. The majority of patients with renal colic due to nephrolithiasis will have partial obstruction on IVP by a radiopaque calculus, less than 4 mm in diameter which will pass spontaneously, reflecting the generally benign nature of this condition.

ABSTRACTUrograms were performed on sixty patients and patients were randomly allocated to one of three groups. One group of patients received ionic contrast, one group received non‐ionic contrast agent alone, and one group received non‐ionic contrast agent with Mannitol. All patients had normal renal function. The nephrographic phase of the urograms performed with non‐ionic contrast agent, with or without Mannitol, were no better than those performed with ionic contrast agent. ABSTRACTSkeletal metastases from hepatocellular carcinoma are uncommon but produce a typld radiological appearance of bone destruction associated with large, very vascular, soft tissue masses. A case of spinal cord compression from such a mass is presented.

SUMMARY13 cases of Tumoral Calcinosis in children from 6 Paediatric Institutions are presented. Rare localisations and importance of CT investigation are stressed. ABSTRACTHerniation of intervertebral disc usually occurs posterolaterally. A thorough review of the recent radiological literature revealed only a single case report of anterior intervertebral disc hernitation demonstrated by computed tomography (CT). We report another such case.
