SUMMARYThe results of radical radiotherapy in 62 fully staged patients with Hodgkin's Disease are presented and the causes of treatment failure are examined. The period of follow up varied from 6 to 87 months.16 patients (25.8%) had recurrent disease, of whom 4 died despite further treatment. One patient died of radiation pneumonitis (total death rate: 8.2%). Most relapses (81%) were observed within 2 years of initial treatment and none have so far occurred beyond 3 years of follow up. In 5 patients, relapse occurred in nodal areas which were either not irradiated or received less than 4,000 rads. Total nodal irradiation taken to 4,000 rads of all patients with apparently localised disease may have prevented some or all of these recurrences but such a treatment policy previously led to unacceptable morbidity. The remaining patients had relapses in adequately treated areas or in sites outside the field of radiation (e.g. skin, bone marrow).It would seem that sequential treatment with extended field radical radiotherapy and combination chemotherapy given to all patients who appear to have localised Hodgkin's disease, after a full staging procedure, may offer the best prospects of improving the prognosis of such patients.

SUMMARYThe radiological features of eight cases of cerebral torulosis who presented at the Darwin Hospital are reviewed; they consisted of nonspecific changes indicating raised intra‐cranial pressure with separation of the sutures in the one case in a child and various degrees of erosion of the dorsum sella in adults.
