摘要:
A recent survey of water‐utility managers has revealed a number of interesting and informative opinions about the image of water utilities. The author concludes that several steps must be taken in order to implement the positive image shift that is necessary if water utilities are to improve both their internal operations and their image in the community.

摘要:
Many of the standards that govern the quality of tap water apply also to the water used in industry; however, purity is even more crucial in processing edible products. Because of possible adverse effects of various additional chemicals that might be added in processing, it is suggested that existing criteria be revised exclusively for the dairy and food industries.

摘要:
In Contra Costa County, Calif., a program is under way to institute a water‐reclamation project. The reclaimed water will be used by industrial plants in the area for cooling purposes. Several plans were considered before the water district settled on the reclamation project. Local industry participated in the decision‐making process, and tests are still under way to determine what treatment will be necessary to prepare the reclaimed water for use in cooling processes. Nevertheless, the project demonstrates that wastewater reclamation can provide an economic solution to water‐supply problems.

摘要:
As a water shortage becomes more of a probability than a possibility, attitudes are being revised in regard to water‐recycling methods, which are, in turn, complex and problem‐plagued also.
