摘要:
A series of views of the future and its demands are presented by widely known experts in their fields, under the heading “World and Water Imperatives,” which demonstrates both the scope and the urgency of the matter discussed. The presentations are by W. Parker Mauldin, C. A. Doxiadis, and Abel Wolman, and were given on Jun. 24, 1970, at the Annual Conference, Washington, D.C.

摘要:
The January, 1970, Journal AWWA (Vol. 62, No.1), contained errors in two articles. In the article, “Analysis of Circular‐Cylindrical and Conical Concrete Containers by Finite Differences,” pp. 47‐50, by Amin Ghali, Table 1 and Figure 1 were incorrect. In the article, “Generalizing Dry‐Day Frequency Data,” pp. 51‐54, Equation 2 was incorrect. Both mistakes are corrected here.

Certain adjustments must be made by a western engineer when planning and building in a developing country. The stage of development, funds available, and local customs must be considered when planning and executing a project.

摘要:
The authors graphically present the mechanism of rate‐making, with emphasis on the importance of the plant superintendent to the other professionals—the engineers, financial men, and accountants who specialize in the utility field, especially water—in setting rates that will yield required income.

摘要:
Determining the most economical usage of all water sources, including conventional sources, desalted seawater, and renovated wastewater, is a problem that will be encountered more and more frequently. The authors present a network analysis‐based model for selecting the least‐cost water supply and wastewater disposal system for a municipal area.

摘要:
The treatment of wastewaters with aluminum sulfate results in large amounts of low‐solids sludge, from which it is difficult to remove water. One method of dewatering this sludge is by natural freezing, and the authors describe the feasibility of this process herein.
