摘要:
This Journal AWWA monthly column offers sometimes tongue in cheek musings about issues, trends, politics and events as they relate to both AWWA and the water industry in general. This month's column talks about: the AWWA Board of director's official statement regarding how to handle deficiencies within water utilties; the theme “quality”; people becoming more environmentally conscious; results of a test conducted at Marquette University, comparing the results of washing dirty diapers with the country's biggest selling detergent, Tide, a special laboratory detergent using a substitute for phosphates, and plain water; protests by water customers in Harlem, New York, about their water quality; a union labor dispute in Georgia; and, a fire alarm triggered by a toilet flushing at a school in Belleview, Washington.

摘要:
As our demand for natural resources grows, so does our ability to exploit them on an increasingly‐greater scale. Responsibility goes with this demand and this power, and water utilities must take a long view—repairing damaged resources and planning for an adequate supply of quality water for the future.

摘要:
The paper “A Policy on Education,” by H. E. Hudson Jr. (February 1970 Journal AWWA) should have concluded with the statement on employee training policy, detailed here. It replaces the conclusion appearing on page 79 of the February issue.

摘要:
A third of all interstate‐carrier water supplies had either major deficiencies or inadequate health surveillance. Such a high percentage is alarming and indicates a weakness in the control measures being applied both by the state health departments and the Public Health Service.
