A first cousin marriage family with three children was studied. One sibling (AW) was homo‐zygous for W32.WlO. When used as stimulator in one way MLC, AW elicited a very low response in family members possessing this haplotype. Serologically identical sibling and father combination showed bidirectional non‐stimulation in one way MLC. Therefore, AW is assumed to be homozygous not only for SD antigens, but also for LD determinants which we call LD WlOa. Among the 43 unrelated individuals tested with AW, an association be‐tween LD WlOa and W10 antigen of the second HL‐A locus was observed. Of 12 W10 positive individuals tested, five carry this allele as compared to one out of 31 W10 negative individuals. A method of freezing LD typing cells in microtiter plates was developed. Two × 105lympho‐cytes in a small volume (15 μl) with a low DMSO concentration (5%) were directly frozen in a — 70° C freezer. The HL–A antigens of a Chinese population now living on the island of Taiwan have been investigated with reagents obtained from and characterized in Caucasian populations and with antisera obtained from Chinese multiparous women. Both HL–A2, the most frequent specificity found, and HL–A9 appear highly heterogeneous in this Chinese population since groups of antisera used to define HL–A2 or 9 in Caucasians gave discordant reactions. Moreover, new associations were found using chi‐square and cluster analyses, further demonstrating the complexity of HL–A in this Taiwanese population. Between 1965 and 1973, 30 malignant tuniours were found in patients transplanted in Scandinavia.Of these tumours, 24 were found in the 1,254 patients transplanted in Scandinavia as part of the Scandia Transplant Programme between 1969 and 1972. Using the inforniation recorded in the programme, 418 Danish patients who received their first and only transplant between 1969 and 1972 were selected and followed until 31/12 1973. Twelve tumours occurred in these patients. A comparison with the expected age, sex and time‐specific incidence rates from the Danish Cancer Register was made and the observed tumour incidence was found to be significantly (P<0.001) greater than expected.Tumour incidence was found to be associated with inconipatibility in the FOUR series, but was unrelated to number of rejections, the presence of HL‐A antibodies and sex differcnce between donor and recipient. Target cell specificity of a human cytotoxic lymphocyte‐dependent antiserum correlated with the presence of HL‐A7 on target cells. Eighty cases of sarcoidosis have been investigated. In all except eight patients a histological verification of the diagnosis was obtained by mediastinoscopy or liver biopsy. The HL‐A7 antigen was not increased in the entire group. However, in the group of patients with a negative sensitivity to tuberculin after the appearance of the disease there was a significant increase compared with controls.
