摘要:
SummaryA patient with perianal extramammary Paget's disease (EMPD) occuring simultaneously with prostatic adenocarcinoma is presented. Four previously reported cases of genital EMPD associated with prostatic carcinoma are reviewed. The use of immunohistologic techniques to help establish the diagnosis in some cases, and the relationship of EMPD to underlying adenocarcinoma of sweat glands and of the lower urinary and gastrointestinal tracts is discussed. The importance of a directed search for internal malignancy in the individual patient with EMPD is emphasised.

摘要:
SummaryLevonorgestrel, as used in oral contraceptives, has antiovulatory activity at doses far lower than those producing androgenic effects. Triphasil®, containing levonorgestrel was compared with Diane®, containing cyproterone acetate in a trial of acne treatment. Twenty closely matched patients were alternatively allocated to 6 months of Triphasil or Diane treatment. Both groups had a 72% reduction in acne counts. Assays of total testosterone, androgen index, free testosterone, dehydroepiandrosterone sulphate and androstenedione showed significant reduction on treatment and sex hormone binding globulin was raised. All hormonal changes were more marked in the Diane group. Side effects caused only one withdrawal from the tria

摘要:
SummaryA case is presented of a Sweet's syndrome‐like eruption in association with the oral contraceptive. A 46 year old Caucasian woman developed recurrent episodes of erythematous tender plaques on her trunk six weeks after commencement of the oral contraceptive (OC). Her condition clinically and histologically resembled Sweet's dermatosis. On cessation of the OC there was complete resolution of her lesions and she remains well 12 months later. This is the first report, to our knowledge, of a neutrophilic reaction to the oral contraceptive, and we believe that drugs may be implicated in the aetiology of atypical neutrophilic reactions simulating Sweet's syndrome in patients who are otherwise wel
