SummaryThe light exposed areas of the head and neck, forearms and dorsa of hands of two thousand adults aged forty years and older were at the Alfred Hospital between 1982 and 1983. SummaryA case of porphyria cutanea tarda in a seven year old child is reported. This was demonstrated to be a familial type by uroporphyrinogen decarboxylase estimations in the patient and her family. Treatment of the patient with chloroquin is described.

SummaryPhotosensitivity from drugs does not always present in a classical fashion involving all areas of exposure. The area of involved skin may be limited and cause confusion in diagnosis. Drug photosensitivity causes both transient and persistent light reactions. The cases described in this paper illustrate in a clinical fashion, the manner in which the diagnosis of drug eruptions can be complicated in our daily clinical work.

SummaryThe clinical and pathological features of six patients with facial granuloma are presented. Of a total of 11 lesions biopsied, only one was correctly diagnosed clinically, eight other lesions being regarded as basal cell carcinomas. SummaryOral corticosteroid therapy has been reported to produce a rapid recovery in trichophyton kerion. In this paper three children are described with kerion due to Microsporum canis. The inflammatory changes responded dramatically to oral corticosteroid therapy with rapid healing of the kerions. The immunological basis for kerion formation and the response to corticosteroid therapy is discussed.
