SummarySeven cases are reviewed in which the histologic and immunohistologic features were those of mycosis fungoides, although the patients presented with solitary lesions which did not recur after local therapy (excision in six, radiotherapy in one), with follow‐up of 10 months to 18 years. Immunophenotypic staining of paraffin‐embedded tissue revealed a predominant T‐lymphocyte proliferation in all cases, with a t‐helper proliferation confirmed by immunostaining of frozen tissue in three cases. None of the four cases studied for BER‐H2(Ki‐1) were positive, in contrast to the “activated” types of spontaneously regressing lymphoid lesions, lymphomatoid papulosis and “Ki‐1” lymphoma. Electron microscopy in one case demonstrated the highly convoluted nuclei of the T cells within the infiltrate. SummaryThe clinical course, therapy and investigations in a man with lichenoid mycosis fungoides which resulted in fatal spread to the brain is described. Immunological studies revealed a significant reduction in T cell numbers. Brain lesions were confirmed by CT Scan and drill biopsy. The literature on the subject is discussed.

Histological studies suggest that malignancy arises from the abnormal clone of keratinocytes which produce the cornoid lamella. SummaryA patient with epidermodysplasia verruciformis was followed over a ten year period. This rare genetic disorder, characterised by papillomavirus‐associated skin lesions and squamous cell carcinomas, is difficult to manager and invariably shortens the lifespan due to metastases from skin carcinomas. SummaryWe report the case of a two year old boy who developed a large tumour on his face. The lesion resembled a pyogenic granuloma clinically and histologically. Viral studies indicated a parapox infection and a bovine source was supported on epidemiological grounds. The lesion was removed by shave excision and the area healed without significant scarring.

SummaryAn unusual case of porphria cutanea tarda (PCT) with sclerodermoid changes is reported. This case is remarkable for the extent of sclerodermoid changes and the presence of gross dystrophic calcification and ulceration in the sclerotic areas. The pathogenesis of this condition is discussed.
