SummarySalazopyrin in a dose beginning at 1 g per day and increased to 2 to 4–5g per day, was used for periods of six to 13 months in the treatment of four men with Type 2 scleroderma. One patient claimed symptomatic improvement and a skin stretch test indicated possible decreased skin stiffness. The other patients were not helped. Tests in the patients generally did not show any improvement.Salazopyrin treatment may possibly help occasional patients with scleroderma, but is of limited valu
