摘要:
Immunoelectron microscopic study on the interaction between the immune complexes and the local vascular components in nephrotoxic nephritis and ARTHUS type skin reaction was carried out. Conventional histologic and fluorescent antibody observations were also made for reference. The mechanism of the beginning and progression of nephrotoxic nephritis was as follows: The initial binding of heterologous anti‐kidney antibodies to the intrarenal antigenic determinants, which were supposed to be concentrated mainly along the laminae densae of the glomerular basement membranes and partially in the mesangial matrices, and followed by gradually increased incorporation of complement β1c‐components. The hitherto formed immune complexes then appeared in the lamina rarae int. of the basement membranes and in the mesangial areas by non‐immunological transportation and deposition. The successive interactions between the immune complexes and the mesangial cells were assumed to be the essential factor to generate varied features of morphological alterations in the mesangial areas and in other glomerular components.Although this mechanism at the mesangial level had much similarity with the interaction between the deposited immune complexes and the pericytes of the target blood vessels in vasculitis of the AKTHUS type, the causative factor of continuated inflammatory reactions in the glomeruli of the nephrotoxic nephritis were discussed from both immunological and morphological points. 摘要:
A statistical analysis of 4,032 consecutive autopsy cases revealed a great influence of alcohol, mainly Japanese rice wine, in the production of cirrhosis in Japan.A histopathologic study of 647 cases of diseased and accidental deaths concludes that alcoholic effect on the liver due to Japanese rice wine is only mildly toxic. It is shown that the developmental pattern of cirrhosis in Japan is quite different from that in Europe. Many early nutritional type cirrhosis could develop into posthepatitic type cirrhosis in the late stage. The influence of alcohol particularly Japanese rice wine to hepatoma is also discussed. 摘要:
Nucleolar alterations characterized by disintegration of nucleolonemal structure, and segregation of granular and fibrillar components were produced in the alveolar epithelial cells of rats after an injection of monocrotaline, a pyrrolizidine alkaloid from Crotalaria spectabilis. These lesions appeared most prominently 6 hours after injection, and most of the alveolar epithelial cells, both type I and type II cells were shown to be involved. At the 24th and 48th hour, nucleolonemal strands became reorganized, and the granular component appeared to be more abundant than in the control nucleolus. The significance of these nucleolar alterations was discussed in connection with a possible biochemical action of monocrotaline on the nuclear DNA of the alveolar epithelial cells. ACTA PATH. 摘要:
Seven‐hundred‐and‐sixty‐four stomachs from the Japanese and 456 from the Americans, both autopsy and surgical materials inclusive, were studied histologically. There were seen, within an unexpectedly large proportion of cases, distortion and thickening of the muscularis mucosae. This change consisted of a proliferation of fibrous and muscular elements. The incidence of the lesion increased with the advance of age reaching 77.4 per cent in the 6th decade in autopsy cases in the Japanese, whereas in the Americans it was less than 20.0 per cent, thus making a sharp contrast. Its association with classical gastritic changes was a usual occurrence. The term “fibromusculosis” was proposed by the author for the lesion, on the ground that it would constitute one of the important anatomical features of chronic “Um

摘要:
The effect of a high molecular unsaturated fatty acid C22H36O2(RTB) In the treatment of experimental murine leprosy was studied for a one‐year long term in parallel with Isonicotinic acid hydrazide (INAH), its derivatives Isonicotinoyl 3–4‐diethoxy benzol hydrazone (No. 284), and a salivary gland hormone (Parotin). The effectiveness of RTB on experimental murileproma was found to be weaker than INAH and No. 284, but almost the same as Parotin. The healing mechanism of RTB and Parotin is not a direct bacteriocidal action, but has a phagocytic and bacteriolytic mechanism of histiocytes due to activation of the reticuloendothelial system. The characteristic findings following RTB administration were predominant proliferation of “argyrophilic fiber type of histiocytes” and argyrophilic fibers, and the new formation of blood‐capillaries. At the same time, the healing process of various drugs and the non‐inhibitory effect of RTB were histopathologica

摘要:
An autopsy case of a female infant aged nine hours, with osteogenesis imperfecta congenita is presented.Histochemical and electron microscopical studies were performed on the bones, skin and eyes of this case, comparing with normal control. In the periosteum, corium layer of the skin, sclera and cornea of the eyes of this case, the connective tissue mostly consisted of thin and delicate fibers, instead of the usual collagen fibers. Histochemically, these fibers showed PAS‐positive, argyrophilic and acid mucopolysaccharide negative properties. They were composed of uniform and slender fibrils which had a cross‐striatlon periodicity at 200–400 Å intervals and thickness at 400 Å, in contrast with the cross‐striation periodicity at 640–700 A intervals and thickness at 1,000 A of the usual collagen. The presence of this collagen in the bone matrix caused irregular and granular calcium depositions. Augmented reaction of chondroitin sulfate A or C was seen in the epiphyseal cartilaginous matrix, central core of primary bone and of basophilic osteoid trabecule, and in the cartilaginous callus. On the other hand, periosteal basophilic osteoid bone, periphery of primary bone and of basophilic osteoid trabecule showed intense PAS‐positive, argyrophilic and acid mucopolysaccharide negative characteristics. The relationship between the pathogenesis of this disease and the disturbance of collagen formation as well as the augmented chondroitin sulfate A or C in the matrix of connective tissue

摘要:
An autopsy case of generalized tuberculosis after BCG vaccination was reported. The patient, a boy BCG‐vaccinated at the age of three, developed regional lymphadenitis, which was followed by subcutaneous abscesses in the chest wall. At the age of eleven, chest X‐ray examination revealed an infiltrative shadow in the upper field. He died at thirteen years of age in poor condition with diarrhea and severe attacks of general convulsions. Autopsy disclosed generalized tuberculosis, especially in the skin, lymph nodes, lung, small intestine and brain. Microscopically, there was little tendency to develop tuberculous granulation tissue. Myriads of acid‐fast bacilli were found in these ill‐defined foci. The acid‐fast bacilli were indistinguishable from BCG by bacteriological investigations. No definite causative factor could be traced. Complications induced by BCG vaccination were briefly discussed. ACTA PATH JAP. 19: 395

摘要:
An autopsy case of embryonal carcinoma in the anterior mediastinum developing in a 49‐year‐old male is reported. The tumor showed a great variety of histological patterns, all of which can be regarded as tumor of germ cell origin. Wide‐spread hematogenous metastasis was found especially in the right lung. Specific histological features of Teilum's endodermal sinus tumors may enable their proper identification from thymoma or other types of neoplasm in the mediastinum. The histogenesis of extragonadal germ cell tumors was also discussed. 摘要:
Three cases of papillary necrosis in newborn infants are reported. In each instance the necrosis was associated with severe icterus with elevated concentrations of indirect‐reacting bilirubin. Common clinical symptoms of these cases were, in addition to icterus, oliguria, anuria, and/ or hematuria. Rapid elevation of serum N.P.N, was observed.Thirty‐three reported cases of this rare condition have been reviewed, including twenty‐four in the newborn.Renal papillary necrosis may be caused by altered blood flow in the renal medulla. Deposition of high concentrations of bilirubin in the tubular epithelium of the renal medulla may act as a trigger of the lesion. ACTA PATH. JAP. 19: 419˜431
