AbstractIs it possible to generalize client responses to Rorschach stimuli to their responses to other stimuli in the life space? If so, can we interpret their responses without a formal administration? This paper explores the application of Exner‐based Rorschach techniques to client verbalizations and writings. This exploration is conducted by taking “poetic license” with the Exner system and analyzing three pieces of literature: poems by Basho, Ezra Pound, and Siv Cedering Fox. AbstractIn 1968, Koppitz described the human figure drawings of 5‐ to 12‐year‐old children and established normative data for these age groups. The present work consisted of two parts. The first confirmed the observations of Koppitz to a very considerable degree in a sample of predominantly middle‐class, White children between 5 and 7 years of age. AbstractThis study was designed to identify clinically meaningful differences between continuous and episodic drinkers who were entering inpatient treatment (N= 125) on the basis of information from intake administrations of the revised Alcohol Evaluation Instrument, the Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory, and the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory. Separate discriminant analyses based upon (a) the MCMI and ALCEVAL‐R and (b) MMPI and ALCEVAL‐R yielded correct classification rates of 86% and 85%, respectively. Both analyses suggest that continuous drinkers may be characterized by greater confused and disorganized thinking, agitation, and cynicism and distrust in interpersonal relationships than are episodic drinkers. In contrast, episodic drinkers appear to have somewhat more socially conforming attitudes that may inhibit daily social drinking. AbstractA battery of 12 neuropsychological tests were administered on two occasions to 15 chronic PCP users who reduced or eliminated use of PCP over a 4‐week period. A comparison sample of 15 non‐PCP drug users who did not differ in age, sex, education, and ethnic composition also were tested at the two time periods. Impairment, initially higher for PCP users, decreased significantly after reduction in use of PCP. A nonsignificant increase in impairment was found for non‐PCP drug users. Analysis of each variable revealed that substantial improvement occurred on the acquisition, recall, and delayed recall scores of the Randt Memory Test. Improvement also was noted for some individuals on Trails B and Digit Symbol

AbstractThe correlates of the Weigl Color‐Form Sorting Test in a group of 48 alcoholic inpatients were explored. It was predicted that Weigl performance would be related to conceptual flexibility (Trails B), verbal conceptual ability (Similarities), and symbol substitution (Digit Symbol). It was predicted further that the Weigl would be unrelated to Vocabulary and Trails A.
