AbstractIn Gefäß‐ und Feldversuchen wurde die Auswirkung von verschiedenem Pflanzenmaterial wie Grünraps, Zuckerrübenblätter, Kartoffelkraut und Stroh von Weizen, Mais und Ackerbohnen auf den N‐Umsatz im Boden (Mineralisation, Nmin‐Gehalte, NO3‐Auswaschung) sowie Ertrag und N‐Aufnahme verschiedener Pflanzen in Abhängigkeit von der mineralischen N‐Düngung geprüft. In beiden Versuchen wurden weitgehend übereinstimmende Versuchsergebnisse erzielt: Unabhängig vom N‐Gehalt des Pflanzenmaterials war mit einsetzender Mineralisierung stets eine biologische N‐Festlegung verbunden (Gefäßversuch ‐ Verminderung der NO3‐Auswaschung im Spätherbst). Grünraps (C/N = 12/1) zeigte im Feldversuch nach 4 Wochen bereits eine deutliche Nettomineralisation (Nmin) von 20‐30% des zugeführten Stickstoffs, die sich quantitativ in höheren N‐Entzügen niederschlug.Rübenblätter (C/N = 20/1) wurden bedeutend langsamer abgebaut, verbunden mit einer Zunahme der N‐Entzüge der Folgefrüchte von 6‐20% je nach Höhe der mineralischen Düngung.Sämtliche Stroharten (C/N = 57‐86/1) und Kartoffelkraut (C/N = 73/1) führten zu einer deutlichen biologischen N‐Immobilisierung, die je nach Abbaugeschwindigkeit (Kartoffelkraut und Ackerbohnenstroh schnell, Weizenstroh langsam) und N‐Gehalt des organischen Materials zu verminderten N‐Entzügen der Pflanzen führte.Durch das Aufbringen von oberirdischen Ernterückständen auf eine einheitliche Getreidestoppel wurde ein Teil des Vorfruchtwertes verschiedener Pflanzen vergleichend geprüft und der je nach den Mineralisationsbedingungen im Winter freigeset

AbstractThe double‐plate method and the evaporation method provide comparable results on the hydraulic conductivity of soil (K(hs)). Adaptation of the water retention curve according to the method ofVachaudandVauclinproved to be very reliable. The course of the K(hs) function is well shown by all indirect identification methods included in the comparison. AbstractIn 2jährigen Gefäßversuchen mit einhalmiger Sommergerste wurden durch die Applikation einer Mischung von CCC und Ancymidol Kornertragssteigerungen von 25 % erzielt.Hauptursache der höheren Kornerträge war eine verbesserte Ährenfertilität, die sich in höheren Kornzahlen des oberen Ährenabschnitts manifestierte, wodurch auch die Anzahl der Körner je Ähre zunahm.Das Korn: Stroh‐Verhältnis wurde durch die Wachstumsregulatoren stark zugunsten des Kornanteils verschoben, doch blieb der Gesamtpflanzenertrag pro Gefäß fast unverändert.In allen Wachstumsregulatorvarianten lag der Anteil der Blätter am Strohertrag über dem der Kontrollen, obwohl diese ein absolut höheres Gewicht an

AbstractIn aqueous NaOH‐extracts of top‐soils (0‐10 cm) from typic chromuderts, phosphorus was determined by NMR‐spectroscopy. In addition to inorganic orthophosphate, orthophosphate monoesters and diesters were detected. Pyrophosphate was only found in traces after clear‐cutting and burning of the forests.The result of clear‐cutting and agricultural land use is an increase of inorganic P from 19% (forest) to 33% (maize field). Compost gardens and mature tree gardens contain only 9‐13% inorganic P in the NaOH‐extract.The organic P‐fraction consists mainly of orthophosphate monoesters (57‐72%). AbstractIm Gefäßversuch wurde Rotklee in einer Variante mit mineralischem Stickstoff (NH4NO3bzw. Ca(NO3)2) und in einer anderen mit symbiontisch produziertem Stickstoff auf einem schwach gepufferten lehmigen Sandboden angebaut. Rotklee senkte dabei den pH‐Wert des Bodens innerhalb von 6 Schnitten in der mineralischen N‐Variante von anfänglich 7,6 auf 6,0 und in der symbiontischen N‐Variante auf 5,2 ab. Bei gleichem oberirdischen Pflanzenertrag pro Gefäß hatte der N2‐fixierende Rotklee eine größere Wurzelfrischmasse, ‐länge, ‐oberfläche und ‐dichte pro Gefäß als der mit mineralischem Stickstoff gedüngte Rotklee. Aufgrund der stärkeren Bodenversauerung und der besseren Wurzelausbildung konnte der N2‐fixierende Rotklee die Rohphosphatkomponente eines teilaufgeschlossenen P‐Düngers (Novaphos) effizienter ausnutzen als der mit mineralischem Stickstoff versorgte Rotklee.Die Protonenabgabe von symbiontisch gewachsenen Rotkleewurzeln konnte nur zu 68% mit dem mineralischen Kationenüberschuß (Differenz aus aufgenommenen Kationen minus aufgenommenen Anionen) in Rotklee‐Sproß‐ und Wurzelteilen erklärt werden. AbstractFreshly isolated carrot root sec. phloem explants were cultured in nutrient solution plus inositol, IAA and kinetin and a varied supply of inorganic phosphorus.14CO2fixation experiments with the greened cultures were carried out under steady state conditions at the age of 21 days in light and darkness for four minutes. The results show that photosynthetic CO2fixation by the Calvin cycle is greatly reduced in phosphorus deficient cultures whereas CO2fixation via PEPC is enhanced. Under phosphorus deficiency the export of primary photosynthetates from the chloroplasts seems to be suppressed while the radioactivity of the labelled insoluble fraction, which represents mainly chloroplastic starch after this short time of14CO2fixation, was increased. The results are discussed with respect to the influence of phosphorus nutrition on photosynthetic CO2fixation and PEP carboxylation in carrot tissue cultures.

AbstractSunflower plants (Helianthus annuusL. cv. Zwerg Sonnengold) were cultivated in pots containing 1 kg of soil fertilized with 0.6 g K (K1) and 5.0 g K/pot (K2). At the age of 5 and 11 weeks, respectively the plants were transferred to a growth chamber. 50% of the plants per K treatment received sufficient watering (controls), the remaining 50% were subjected to water stress until visible signs of severe wilting were observed. At that stage the plants were rewatered.In both growth stages and even under water stress conditions the up to 5 times higher K concentrations in the tissue of K2plants caused an increased dry matter production during the experimental periods and a larger total leaf area which was less reduced under water stress than the leaf area of K1plants.During continuous watering the water content per leaf area of K2plants was on the average 1.5g H2O dm−2(K1: 1.35g), the water content of older K2plants being on the average 1.33g H2O dm−2(K1: 1.25g). During water stress and subsequent recovery this relation observed between K2and K1remained constant. In young K1plants, however, no intensified loss of succulence was found during severe drought compared with 11‐week‐old K1plants where the water content decreased from 1.2g to 0.6g H2O per dm2of leaf area.At almost equally high soil water availability stomatal diffusive resistance especially of the older unstressed K2plants was higher than in K‐deficient plants. Under water stress, the degree of stomatal opening of K2plants at first decreased more rapidly, but at equally low soil water potentials diffusive resistance in the leaves of K2plants remained lower than in K1plants.A relation of the leaf water characteristics, total water potential (41), osmotic potential (42), and turgor potential (Φp) to the corresponding soil water potential showed that under stress Φ1and Φsin plants with sufficient K nutrition always remained on a higher level than in K1plants. Consequently, they were able to maintain a higher turgor pressure even under conditions of restricted water

AbstractGeologische, bodentypologische und klimatische Unterschiede zwischen den USA und der Bundesrepublik Deutschland erfordern eine Überprüfung der nachWischmeierundSmith(1978) geschätzten Erodibilität, wenn die Allgemeine Bodenabtragsgleichung auf hiesige Verhältnisse angewendet wird. Die Überprüfung der Erodibilität von 5 repräsentativen Böden des Teilgebiets Hallertau des Unterbayerischen Hügellandes durch Abtragsmessungen mit einem Laborregensimulator zeigte, daß die Übereinstimmung zwischen geschätzter und gemessener Erodibilität für 2 Pseudogley‐Parabraunerden aus Löß und eine Bänder‐Parabraunerde mit Regressionskoeffizienten um 1,0 sehr gut ist. Jedoch wird die Erodibilität einer (Para‐)Braunerde aus lehmigem Sand und eines Pseudogley‐Braunerde‐Pelosols nachWischmeierundSmithum den Faktor 1,5 unterschätzt. Die Korrelationskoeffizienten zwischen gemessenem und geschätztem Abtrag waren stets 0,90. Ursachen für die Abweichung können bei der geringen Zahl von Böden nur angedeutet werden, zumal die Aggregatstabilität nicht allein ausschlaggebend sein kann,

AbstractThe lower and upper critical boron levels in cotton (Gossypium herbaceum‐Etawa), which are not estimated, were determined to provide guideline values for estimating the boron status from deficiency to toxicity. Cotton plants were grown under greenhouse conditions in complete nutrient solution containing boron at levels ranging from 0 to 50 ppm. Plants were harvested after 40 days and analysed for B, Zn, Fe, Mn and Cu.The lower critical levels for boron in roots, young leaves and old leaves were 103, 61 and 78 ppm, while critical nutrient toxicity levels were 129, 80 and 91 ppm, respectively.For the Gossypium herbaceum‐Etawa cultivar, the maximum growth was obtained when 1 ppm boron was applied as H3BO3in the nutrient solution. High boron concentrations in the nutrient solution were associated with low content of Zn, Fe and Mn in the plants, while boron and Cu concentrations increased with boron supply. AbstractAn jeweils sieben Niederschlagsmeßstellen im Freiland, unter Buchen‐ und Fichtenbeständen in Nordrhein‐Westfalen wurden über ein Jahr u.a. die Depositionen von H++ NH4+, Al3+, + Fe3+, Mn2+sowie die Basekapazität bis pH 8,2 (BK8, 2,) ermittelt. Es wird gezeigt, daß die Berechnung der Gesamtsäuredeposition als Summe der Äquivalente von (H++ NH4++ Al3++ Fe3++ Mn2+) die tatsächliche Belastung unterschätzt.
