Le Service National des Ressources en Eau (SNRE) de Haiti, dans le cadre du projet Nations Unies PNUD/DTCD/HAI/86/003Développement et Gestion des Ressources en Eaua réalisé un inventaire des données géophysiques pour la recherche de l'eau souterraine en Haiti, et a également effectué des études géophysiques dans sept plaines alluviales d'Haiti. Les méthodes géophysiques utilisées en Haiti sont la méthode électrique (sondages électriques) et la réalisation de profils électriques, électromagnétiques et magnétiques.La méthodologie utilisée et les synthèses des trois régions suivantes sont présentées: la Plaine de Colombier, la Plaine de l'Arcahaie et la Plaine des Cayes. Les travaux ont permis de déterminer pour chaque région la résistivité spécifique de l'aquifère alluvial, sa surface piézométrique et la profondeur de son substratum, lesquels définissent le système aquifère exploitable. Dans la Plaine de Colombier, l'extension d'une zone des calcaires productifs a également été précisée à partir des résistivités spécifiques du substratum.

Three indicators are used to study the performance of a single purpose irrigation reservoir in Karnataka, India. The three indicators are reliability, resiliency and a productivity index. The performance of the reservoir is evaluated when it is operated with optimal operating policies over a sufficiently long period of time. Three different optimal operating policies are derived, having increasing mathematical complexity, using stochastic dynamic programming (SDP). Two of the three policies, Policy II and Policy III, incorporate a detailed soil moisture dynamics model as an integral part of the SDP. Policy III considers, in addition, an optimal allocation of water among the irrigated crops when there is competition for water. The reservoir releases are simulated under each optimal operating policy using synthetically generated inflows, and a comparison of the system performances is made.

Moisture content data from an infiltration experiment undertaken in the dry main stream bed of wadi Habawnah, south-west Saudi Arabia, are reported. A simple experiment enabled hydraulic properties of the multi-layer soil profile to be inferred through inversion of an unsaturated soil water simulation model. The results indicate a heterogeneous but highly transmissive profile and suggest that significant groundwater recharge will occur from ephemeral wadi flows, at least at that location.

Landform, drainage pattern, slope, soil, vegetation and land use/land cover, all of which control surface runoff and peak flow, can be evaluated and mapped reliably and reasonably through Landsat Thematic Mapper (TM) false colour composites of the post-monsoon season. Runoff curve numbers (CN) determined from those data predicted the runoff depth and peak flow with a coefficient of determination of 0.970 and 0.863 respectively; thereby indicating that, in terms of accuracy, speed and cost, the Landsat TM data are of great significance for estimating surface runoff via the SCS model in the arid environment of northwest India.

摘要:
A methodology for incorporating spatial variability into a unithydrograph type flood estimation procedure is presented. The method centres on the use of a network width function, which describes the spatial disposition of channels within a catchment, a two-parameter routing function, and a hillslope response function. The spatial variability is expressed in terms of weights applied to the network width function. The method is illustrated with respect to both soil type, as described by the winter rain acceptance potential, and total event rainfall in seven events on the River Thames at Cookham, UK.
