摘要:
AbstractThe geodetic surveys in Australia were adjusted on the new Australian Geodetic Datum in 1966. There is now a homogeneous series of co-ordinates for all geodetic stations in Australia, New Guinea and the islands in the Bismarck Sea, on which future mapping and a grid reference system will be based. This paper describes the method of adjustment.

摘要:
AbstractAs a result of the importance of gravity in dynamic levelling and in studies of deviation, the measurement ofgplays an increasing part in the work of the field surveyor. An essential part of high order gravity-difference measurement is the calibration of the gravimeter used. Survey gravimeters fall broadly into one of two classes, those with a short range and a reset facility (exploration type) and those with a long range (geodetic type). The Worden Master is a well-known example of a gravimeter which straddles these classes by means of a dual-dial system and the principles of the field calibration of the dials of this meter, which are discussed here, typify the calibration of any gravimeter which the field surveyor is likely to encounter. The problem of inter-dial calibration, which is peculiar to a dual-dial system, is also discussed.

摘要:
AbstractIn my former paper“Notes on the Adjustment of Trilateration”(S.R.Vol. xvii, No. 134 and Vol. xviii, No. 135), I showed that the conversion of equations for adjustment of co-ordinates into condition equations may often be facilitated by establishing corrections to the approximate co-ordinates as fictitious residuals. This is possible if these latter ones may be treated as independent, according to Thiele. If the corrections to the approximate co-ordinates cannot be rendered independent of one another for conversion into condition equations (as is the case with point 15 in Fig. 1, for example) it is suitable to establish in this point an auxiliary system of co-ordinates, the axisx′of which lies in the side whose initial point is given. In this case, at least one of the corrections to the co-ordinates will be directly residual. The computation of the numerical example given in Vol. xviii, p. 135, carried out with this method, shows the extent of further simplification attained.
