AbstractCosts of surveying and / or mapping projects are escalating and it is imperative that everyone who is responsible for carrying out such projects should look at ways and means of cutting their costs. This applies equally to those employed in a highly competitive private industry as it does to civil servants who are spending taxpayers' money.

AbstractIn recent years Computer Graphics has been used in many engineering and other disciplines as a computer aided design tool. In surveying, however, the technique has not been fully exploited. The purpose of this paper is to show the usefulness and versatility of the Interactive Computer Graphics for survey computations and allied operations.

AbstractTo make more effective use of a Hewlett-Packard 35 calculator a program card was devised. (See Fig.) The idea is to view each step in an algorithm through a window in a circular card (like a circular slide rule). These cards were made from old punch tape boxes, hence their size. An example of the program to compute the angle z in an inclined plane is shown in the figures.
