AbstractPolymerization of methyl methacrylate was carried out in the presence of nylon‐6 and a trace amount of copper ion, together with or without carbon tetrachloride in aqueous media. The polymerization was found to proceed with a free radical mechanism, and the rate was largely accelerated with increase of copper ion concentration in the case where carbon tetrachloride was present, while the rate tends to become slower in the absence of carbon tetrachloride. AbstractProperties of polyfumaramides from liner unsubstituted aliphatic diamines. from piperazines and substituted piperazines were determined.Polyfumaramides from linear unsubstituted aliphatic diamines show a high water sensitivity, and a low range of solubility.Polyfumaramides from piperazines and substituted piperazines show a high water sensitivity, and a good solubility in organic solvents.Films from substituted piperazines polyfumaramides were prepared by dry casting. These films show high tensile properties, high resistence to temperature and good optical properties. By physical treatment as drawing, films properties may be changed, water sensitivity is reduced and tensile strength increased.Correlation between chemical structure and properties of polymers and films are discussed.

AbstractEs wurde festgestellt, daß die entscheidenden Faktoren für die Reaktivität aromatischer Diamine gegenüber Epoxidharzen die Grundkennwerte der Elektronenstruktur und der chemischen Reaktivität in den End‐Aminogruppen sind. Zwischen dem Logarithmus der Gelierzeit und der quantenchemisch berechneten Elektronendichte in der Aminogruppe des aromatischen Diamins besteht eine lineare Abhängigkeit. Die Veränderungen in der Struktur der aromatischen Diamine, die zur Veränderung der Elektronendichte in der Aminogruppe führen, verursachen auch eine Veränderung der Reaktivität dieser Verbindungen bei der PolyadditionDiese Untersuchungen zeligen die Möglichkeiten, die die Quantenchemie auf dem Gebiet der Kunst

AbstractAnionic grafting of polyisoprene and polystyrene by desactivation of a living polymer on the ester groups previosly introduced on the carbon black surface has been followed as a function of the molecular weight of the polymer. The desactivation reaction is limited. A correclation between the grafting ratios and the molecular weights exists. If we assume the macromolecule to behave like spheres having a radius identical to the gyration radius calculated from the viscosity measurement, we will be able to determine the surface coverage of the solid sample. A constant value equal to 1,5 is thus obtained for all the polymers having molecular weights ranging from 4 000 to 135 000. A surface coverage of 1 would correspond to ellipsoids showing axes ratios in close agreement with those calculated statistically by KUHN.

AbstractUntersuch wurden die thermomechanischen Eigenschaften von vernetzten, aus zweierlei Segmenten aufgebauten Polymeren: a) aus monodispersen Segmenten nach der Länge L1(Polymethylenglykolphthalatsegmente mit einem seitenständigen Substituenten hyphen;CH2OR in den Äthylenglykolbausteinen) und b) aus polydispersen Segmenten nach der Länge L̄2(Polymethacrylsäuremethylester‐ und Polyacrylnitrilsegmente).Es wurde gezeigt, daß bei L1= const. die thermomechanischen Eigenschaften der Polymeren von L̄2nicht linear abhängig sind. Die Polyinerenmit Polymethacryl estersegmenten sind durchsichtig und homogen bei jeder bellebigen Zusammensetzung, diejenigen mit Polyacrylnitrilsegmenten sind gleichfalls durchsichtig und homogen, wenn ihr Anteil weniger als 60 Gew.‐% ausmacht. AbstractChlorination of PVC has been studied in DMF solution at varying temperatures. It was found that PVC may be chlorinated to 58,2 % chlorine content in temperature range of 25–50°C. Dehydrohalogenation of the polymers was noted at higher temperatures. In IR‐spectra carbonyl compounds were found as the oxidation products of PVC. The evaluation of the thermal stability of the polymers was carried out using DSC‐calorimetry.
