AbstractChlorine substitution reactions of phosphonitrilic chloride with discodium salts of bis‐(2‐hydroxyethyl)‐terephthalate or bisphenols and sodium p‐bromophenolate were carried out in tetrahydrofuran to produce cyclolinear oligomers. AbstractThe preparation of sorbents by reacting the copolymer glycidyl methacrylate‐ethylene dimethacrylate with aminopyridines is described. The sorption properties of ion exchangers thus obtained were determined. The ions used in the sorption were Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), and Hg(II). AbstractNach der Theorie der Kautschukelastizität kann man ein Netzwerk durch die Konzentration der Netzbögen v im Einheitsvolumen charakterisieren.Man erhält vEdurch einfache Rechnung aus Messungen des Elastizitätsmoduls, oder bei Kenntnis des Flory‐Huggins‐Parameters χ aus Quellungsmessungen vQ. Bei Mengen bis zu 4 Gew.‐% N‐Methylomethacrylamid (MAMol) ist die Übereinstimmung zwischen beiden Methoden und mit dem aus der Vernetzerkonzentration folgenden vthgut. Bei Höheren MAMol‐Mengen steigen sowohl die vE‐Werte als auch die vQ‐Werte über die theoretischen Höchstwerte vthan.Es wird gezeigt, daß die Theorie der Kautschukelastizität das elastische Verhalten von Emulsionspolymerisaten aus Ethylacrylat bei niedrigen Vernetzerkonzentration

AbstractPoly[3,5‐(1‐carboxy‐2‐hydroxy phenylene) ethylene] was prepared by Friedel‐Crafts condensation of salicylic acid (SA) with 1,2‐dichloro ethane (DCE) in presence of anhydrous aluminium chloride. The polymers were prepared varying the catalyst proportion, also in presence of nitrobenzene and tetrachloro ethane. The polymeric samples were characterized by IR and UV spectra and the molecular weights were determined by VPO and conductometric titration in pyridine. Various empirical relations were applied to correlate the viscosity data in DMF with the appropriate concentration function. AbstractPhoto‐induced graft copolymerization of methyl methacrylate onto silk was investigated by using Lutidine‐Bromine (Lu‐Br2) charge transfer complex as initiator. The graft yield increased with increasing monomer concentration at the initial stages and thereafter it decreased. The graft yield increased steadily with the increase of the initiator concentration. The initiator exponent was computed to be 0.5. The reaction was carried out at three different temperatures and the overall activation energy was computed. AbstractEs wurden Masse‐PVC‐Folien verschiedener Dicke sowohl unter Stickstoff und Sauerstoff als auch unter mehreren Gemischen dieser beiden Gase mit einer Quecksilberhochdruckdampflampe bestrahlt. AbstractThe effect of γ‐radiation on polyamide fibres of PA 6, poly(ε‐caprolactam), was investigated by a viscosimetric method (unstabilized and stabilized fibres) and by the X‐ray crystal analysis (unstabilized fibres). AbstractChanges in the physical as well as chemical structure of scoured and slack mercerized restretched (90–103% of original length) cotton yarns brought about by heat treatments and the effects of these on the strength properties of the cotton yarn were investigated. No striking changes in copper number, carboxyl content, iodine sorption, degree of polymerization (P) and strength properties were observed when the scoured and the mercerized yarns were heated at 160, 180, 200, and 210°C for up to 10 min. On the contrary, with the exception of carboxyl content, marked changes in these properties were determined when heat treatment was carried out for up to 96 h and 5 h at 160°C and 210°C, respectively. However, the mercerized yarns retained higher strengths in spite of higher degradation as compared to scoured yarn. The interrelationship between strength and P as well as strength and percentage of bonds broken together with measurements of frequency of successive regions of high lateral order indicated that mercerized cotton exhibited a more uniform structure which improved the distribution of stress along the f
