AbstractBuna CB 11 (Poly‐cis‐butenylen), Naturkautschuk SMR‐5 und Natsyn 2200 (Poly (2‐methyl‐cis‐butenylen)), Baypren 210 und Baypren 710 (Poly‐2‐chlorbutenylen), Buna Hüls 1502 (Butadien‐Styrol‐Copolymeres) und Perbunan N 2807 (Butadien‐Acrylnitril‐Copolymeres) wurden in unvulkanisiertem und vulkanisiertem Zustand pyro‐feldionenmassenspektrometrisch untersucht. Der thermische Abbau wurde in Abhängigkeit von der maximalen Pyrolystemperatur (773 K bis 1173 K) studiert. Aus der Zusammensetzung der primären Kettenbruchstücke wurden Abbaumechanismen hergeleitet und Copolymerenanteile identifiziert.Es wurden Beschleuniger verschiedener chemischer Struktur (Guanidine, Thioharnstoffe, Thiurame, Dithiocarbamate, Thiazole und Sulfenamide) im Hochtemperatureinlaßteil eines Massenspektrometers mit kombinierter Elektronenstoß‐/Feldionisationsquelle bei 563 K und 873 K pyrolysiert. Eingehend diskutiert wird das Abbauverhalten von zwei Beschleuingern (Tetraethylthiuramdisulfid und Benzothiazyl‐2‐cyclohexylsulfenamid). Hierfür wurden Abbauschemata aufegestellt.„Standard‐Vulkanisate”︁ aus Kautschukbasis, Ruß Corax A (N 555), Schwefel und Benzothiazyl‐2‐cyclohexylsulfenamid (Vulkacit CZ), jeweils im Massenverhältnis 100:40:2:0,6, zeigten in ihrem Hochvakuum‐Pyrolysat (MS) typische Fragmente des Vulkanisationsbeschleunigers s

AbstractZur Charakterisierung der Verträglichkeit, Phasenstruktur und der physikalischen Eigenschaften von Mischungen aus Phenolnovolakharz und Nitrilkautschuken wurden mit Hilfe des Torsionsschwingungsversuches mechanische Dämpfungsmessungen im Temperaturbereich von ‐180 bis + 200°C vorgenommen, da der temperaturabhängige Verlustmodul G′′ sehr empfindlich auf Änderungen der Mischungszusammensetzung und Morphologie reagiert.Die Dämpfungsmessungen zeigen, daß eine Phasenumkehr bei den Mischungen mit NBR‐29 bei einer Kautschukkonzentration im Harz von>50 Gew.‐% erfolgt. Für die Mischungen mit NBR‐33 und NBR‐41 bildet sich bereits bei einer Kautschukkonzentration im Harz von>25 Gew.‐% neben der harten Harzphase allmählich eine weiche Phase aus. Aus den Erkenntnissen der morphologischen und mechanischdynamischen Untersuchungen wird versucht, den Elastizitätsmodul der heterogenen Mischung Phenolharz/Kautschuk mit den theoretischen Überlegungen von Coran und Patel zu beschreiben. AbstractBringt man zwei Proben des gleichen Elastomeren in Kontakt, so tritt eine Haftung auf, die man Autohäsion nennt.Die Haftfestigkeitszunahme mit der Kontaktzeit wird durch eine grenzflächenüberschreitende Diffusion von beweglichen Makromolekülkettenenden hervorgerufen. Bei der Autohäsion von unvernetzten Elastomeren läuft dieser Vorgang so lange ab, bis die Volumenfestigkeit des Elastomeren in der Kontaktzone erreicht wird.In dieser Arbeit wurde die Autohäsion von Polybutadien, Acrylnitril‐Butadien‐Copolymeren, Ethylen‐Propylen‐Copolymeren und Polychlorbutadien untersucht. AbstractThe metathesis reaction of olefins is generally assumed to proceed via transition metal carbenes and metalla cyclobutane derivatives as key intermediates. Besides the Phillips trisolefin process the reaction has become technically relevant for the synthesis of special polymers such as polynorbornene. Of scientific interest is the mechanism of the reaction. The particular feature of the metathesis of cycloolefins is the formation of a ring chain equilibrium from which not only cyclic oligomers can be isolated and investigated; moreover, the equilibrium concentration of the cyclic oligomers yields valuable conformational information on the respective chain.

AbstractUsing small‐angle X‐ray scattering the microheterogeneous structure of amorphous polyurethane networks was investigated. It was found to be determined by the corresponding structural characteristics of the initial oligomeric diols. The structure of the oligomers is preserved more or less depending on their chain length in polymeric networks (poly(oxypropyleneglycol) with molecular weights of 2000 and 500 g/mol, resp.). In the latter case a great influence on the structure is exerted by rigid fragments around crosslinks which are characterized by great concentrations of H‐bonds. This is leading to a decrease in the heterogeneity. The heterogeneous structure of the polyurethane networks becomes more distinct with an increase in the oligomer chain length and degree of conversion. AbstractFrom their previous results concerning the propagation phase of electrical treeing, the authors studied different possibilities for the growth of new defects. The space between electrodes is divided into two regions in which the influence of electromechanical and purely mechanical failure are envisaged, respectively. The electromechanical effect being due to the local intensity of the field as near the high voltage electrode as at the tip of the first cracks. The purely mechanical effect is the result of a pressure. This pressure is created by the polymer decomposition under the impinging of partial discharges.

AbstractPhotochemically induced grafting and graft‐polymerization of 4‐(N‐ethyl‐N‐2‐acryloxyethyl)amino‐4′‐nitro‐azobenzeneI, brought into contact in the solid state with cellulose by evaporation of solvent from monomer solutions, has been investigated kinetically at 30°C. Two constant rate periods were observed. The first one was interpreted on the basis of a self‐sensitized grafting mechanism of monomeric or oligomeric species ofI, photochemically initiated by hydrogen abstraction from the cellulose surface. The second one was explained as a self‐sensitized photochemically induced graft‐polymerization ofIon the first grafted layer. Abstract5,5′‐Azo‐bis‐(5‐cyanocaproyl)‐benzoyl diperoxide was synthesized starting from 5,5′‐azo‐bis‐(5‐cyanohexanoic) acid, obtained in its turn from 5‐keto‐hexanoic acid, hydrazine sulphate and sodium cyanide.5,5′‐Azo‐bis‐(5‐cyanohexanoic) acid was then converted into acid chloride and condensed with perbenzoic acid. The structures of intermediates and of the product were elucidated by means of elemental analysis and IR and NMR spectral measurements.In order to settle the bifunctional character of the synthesized initiator the thermolysis rate constants for azo and peroxy groups, energies of activation and half‐life times were settled. By comparing the kinetic data with those obtained in 4,4′‐azo‐bis‐(4‐cyanovaleryl)‐benzoyl diperoxide thermolysis the decomposition rate was found to increase and the bifunctional character to enhance with increasing length of
