摘要:
AbstractThe article attempts to summarize the most important knowledge about the analysis of a Langmuir probe at middle pressures. First it briefly reviews the recent theories which deal with interpretation of Langmuir probe data at such conditions and then it applies the theory to the measurements in a Neon discharge at pressures 1.86 and 2.46 kPa. The charged particle density and the electron temperature obtained from the same probe data using different theories is compared against each other and a satisfactory agreement is obtained. The recommended procedure of probe data interpretation is given at the end of the paper.

摘要:
AbstractLangmuir probe measurements in argon flowing afterglow are presented together with probe data analyses. The charged particles density is evaluated from the electron probe current at the space potential and from the saturated positive ion current. The latter is analysed using the method by Zakrzewski and Kopiczynski [15, 16] and both results are compared against each other. A satisfactory agreement almost within the estimated experimental error range suggests that the method [15, 16]brings a reasonable description of a positive ion collection by a Langmuir probe.

AbstractThe sheath thicknesses and numbers of collisions from an infinite fluid model of the space between an atomic cold gas plasma and a planar wall are reported in dependence on the normalized ionisation, ion elastic and charge exchange collision frequences. The Bohm criterion validity, ion heating in double layer electric field, volume radiative recombination and related questions are discussed.

摘要:
AbstractA previous theoretical model is enlarged to elucidate some features of the optogalvanic signals originating from the metastable states in hollow cathode neon discharges. Numerical experiments were performed on the basis of this model to obtain the time evolution of the optogalvanic signals in pulsed and chopped cw experiments at 588.2 nm for different discharge currents and different laser intensities. The predictions of the numerical experiments were found to be in qualitative agreement with real experimental results.

AbstractThe electroconductivity of partially ionized cesium and sodium plasmas is calculated within the frame of the Chapman‐Enskog method. The composition of the plasma and the transport cross section for electron‐electron and electron‐ion scattering were evaluated in previous papers (Redmer et al. [1], Sigeneger et al. [2]).
